Show and Tell – November 2022

Good morning, and happy Friday to you. It’s time for my very favorite type of newsletter once again–where I get to show your beautiful creations. I also have a couple freshly dyed colorways to show you.

Let’s start with the Show and Tell projects. These are finished objects and works in progress made by some of you using Purple Lamb yarn or fiber.

First up is Adi’s beautiful handwoven scarf:

She wove it using yarn she spun from my Lothlorien art batts as the weft and Mindful Folk’s Chocolate for the warp.

Next we have this lovely coat scarf that Bobbe made using the Macaw colorway my son created some time back. Isn’t it delightful?

The next project is a beautiful cowl created by Crys. She spun the yarn using my Dreams of the Sea colorway, and then she knit it using a pattern of her own creation with the butterfly stitch. As you can see, her beautiful work won first place!

Next up are some adorable hats. Karen makes these to give to her local hospital for newborn babies. She used Sunflower, Monet, and Rosy-Fingered Dawn to make these.

Next up is this beautiful shawl made by Mary. She used Ambah O’Brien’s Keady Wrap pattern along with Sunflower and Freedom Blue on Stained Glass Sock and some black yarn that she had.

Mary also created this really fun triangle shawl pattern that she is working on:

She used Starlight and The Winedark Sea on Squoosh DK as well as some red metallic thread. It’s perfect for Veterans’ Day today!

Last but certainly not least is Sara’s beautiful cowl. She used Ambah O’Brien’s Adventurer Cowl pattern.

Sara used the yarn from her May Club Colorway based on Odillon Redon’s painting, The Shell. The matching semi-solid was Pomegranate, and she also used a gray yarn she had from Baah Yarn.

It makes me so happy to see what my yarn and fiber grow up to become! I hope these projects inspire your next project.

Fresh from the Dye Pot

This week, I dyed up more of A Good Man Is Hard to Find. This is a new colorway that I named after the great but dark short story by Flannery O’Connor. Here’s the colorway on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Here is A Good Man Is Hard to Find on Sock Perfection along with Chocolate and Pumpkin Spice Latte:

I also dyed a new batch of Beautiful Universe this week on four different yarn bases. Here it is on Sock Perfection:

Today I will begin creating the November club colorway yarn and art batts based on Fragonard’s painting, The Swing.

Have a wonderful weekend!
