I love Show and Tell week! I love getting to see and share all the beautiful things you have made and talking with you about your experience. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to send in a photo of what you have been working on! My hope is that what we share here will be an inspiration to all of you!

This time we have quite a few really lovely projects to share!

Let’s start with Bobbe, who made this lovely hat and scarf set for a young friend of hers who is heading off to UC Davis. These are their team colors:

She used Sunflower, Freedom Blue, and Mithril on Squoosh Worsted to make these. I’m sure these will help her young friend feel right at home her first year of college!

This next project was made by Paula. She crocheted the Tendril Shawl by Carmen Heffernan.

To make it, Paula used one of my Purple Joy gradient mini skein sets along with an extra mini skein of Sunflower for the edge. Isn’t it lovely? Paula mentioned that she hasn’t always been a fan of shawls, but that this one felt really good on her shoulders!

The next project is from Kathleen. She has been using the little sample skeins I send in your packages to good effect to make this delightful sock:

Next is a skein of yarn I spun using last month’s club colorway art batt. It was inspired by Edward Moran’s painting, Washington at Home. Here’s the art batt:

Marty has been working on this lovely shawl from a book called Modern Knitted Shawls & Wraps by Laura Strutt The shawl is called Peaches and Cream, and she used Peacock Eyes on both Stained Glass Fingering and Twinkle Fingering:

I actually had three different people share three different gorgeous projects using Starry Night this month, so I thought I would share them one after another so you can see just how different one colorway can look.

The first Starry Night project is by Dawn. She made the Starfall Cowl by Michele Bernstein:

The next project is from Jennifer who made the Vortex Shawl by Kristina McCurley with Starry Night:

The pattern was not originally made for assigned pooling yarn, but Jennifer added the stitches to make it work beautifully. She sells her knit objects and acrylic paintings at The Roost in Balstrop, Texas.

Last but not least is this fabulous sweater that Caryl made:

My jaw dropped when she sent me these photos. Look at the planned pooling on the back! Isn’t it amazing?

I loved seeing how differently and how beautifully each Starry Night project turned out!

Fall Colorways

It’s August in Texas. It has been over 100 degrees for so many days that I’ve stopped counting. Nonetheless, I really should be thinking about fall colorways, shouldn’t I? Even though Purple Lamb is 15 years old, I’m still really bad at thinking ahead toward the next season.

Fortunately, I have customers who are a lot better at that than I am. A few customers just ordered some fall colorways from the dyed to order section of my shop, and that reminded me that there will actually be a time when going outside doesn’t feel like walking into an oven.

I have a couple ready-to-ship colorways now and many more available dyed to order. Let me just show you the ones I dyed up so you too can remember that the heat won’t last forever. I promise!

I dyed Pumpkin Spice Latte on Stained Glass Fingering:

I also dyed The Palantir on Stained Glass Fingering:

These two look great together, and Fawn or Chocolate would be great with both.

Two New Colorways

I have two new colorways to share with you this week. The first is called Peacock Green. It’s a layered tonal colorway made with gold and green, resulting in sort of a lichen green. It was inspired by the background color of peacock feathers like these:

It’s also the same layered colorway I use for the background portion of my Peacock Feathers assigned pooling colorway. I’ve had several people ask for it, so I decided to make it official. Here is Peacock Green:

The other new colorway has a story behind it. A lovely customer of mine reached out recently. She had just joined an organization called the Red Hat Society and was hoping to find yarn that would work with their signature colors. I had to look it up, but it’s an international group of older ladies who get together for fun and camaraderie. They wear red hats and purple outfits. It sounds delightful! I created an assigned pooling colorway and named it Red Hat Society. Here it is:

Isn’t that fun? I actually really love red and purple together, but one doesn’t seem them together often. Among other things, I think this colorway would make a great baby blanket! You can find Red Hat Society in the dyed to order section of my shop right here.
