October Club Colorway, Halloween Yarn, and a Lovely DK Fade

Happy Friday!

I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe and nowhere near fires or hurricanes.

This week I wanted to announce the painting that will inspire the October club colorway. After a few months of club colorways with a lot of earth tones, I decided to go bold this month. I chose Georgia O’Keeffe’s “Red Canna” to use as my inspiration. Here it is:

“Red Canna” by Georgia O’Keeffe

The thing that excites me most about this beautiful painting is the subtle shading in the midst of the brilliant colors. I can hardly wait to get started!

Every month I use a different painting as my inspiration, and these colorways are exclusive to club members for at least two months and usually much longer.

If you have been considering joining the art batt club or one of the yarn clubs, I just got caught up on the last several months of photos of my club colorways, so you can see all the yarn and fiber along with the paintings I have used as my inspiration on my blog right here. If you are ready to join, you can find your favorite club here.

Trick or Treat Yarn

Today I dyed up what will probably be the last batch of Trick or Treat Yarn for the year. I have it available on Sock Perfection, Sparkly Merino Sock, and Squoosh DK right now, and I also have it in the dyed-to-order section of my shop. You can see Trick or Treat on Sock Perfection right here.

My goal was to make something distinctly for Halloween but also something that will look great for adults and not just kids. If you knit with this, the short orange stripes will knit up as little orange stars on a black background.

More Squoosh DK

I just got more undyed Squoosh DK in along with some other bases, and I spent most of today dyeing it up. This base is wonderfully soft and squishy and a perfect weight for fall. I listed Pumpkin Spice Latte already, and I’ll be listing Seashell, Pagliacci, and Renoir tomorrow. You can see them by Saturday afternoon in the Squoosh DK section of my shop.

As I write this, I am looking at Renoir and Pagliacci side by side on my drying rack, and they would look fantastic with Mirkwood as a third colorway to make a very subtle fade for something like Joji Locatelli’s Jodi Shawl. I wish I could show you a photo now, but it’s dark outside, and I use natural light for my photos. I’ll be sure to include it in an Instagram and Facebook post this week.

Meanwhile, you can see all that’s new in my shop in the New This Month section of my shop.

Spin Together

There are just a couple more weeks until the Spin Together competition begins. We have teams and team members from across the world this year, and every spinner is welcome to join us for a week-long lighthearted competition filled with fun and camaraderie. Signup continues through September 30th, and the competition begins at noon wherever you are on Saturday, October 3rd. You can find out more and join a team at www.spintogether.org.

I’ll leave you with one more photo. This is Jazz, one of my favorite art batts:

I think that’s everything for this week. Stay well, and happy fiber artistry!
