Happy birthday, America! Our beautiful nation is 250 years old!
Over the last few weeks, I have been watching the reactions of visitors who came to see the World Cup. They’ve enjoyed all the ordinary things we take for granted, and it has been so refreshing to see America through the eyes of visitors who came here expecting the worst and finding the best.
They’ve enjoyed the food and the unique experiences, but most of all they have been impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of ordinary Americans. It truly brings joy to my heart to see people from all over the world see us for who we really are and for us to see them the same way. My hope is that this summer of World Cup soccer games will go a long way to bringing us all closer together!
