This week I dyed up lots of lovely shades of blue that are perfect for summer. I dyed more of the new gradient trio of colorways on Sock Perfection:

From left to right the colorways are Serenity Blue, Renaissance Blue, and Annunciation Blue. I also dyed them on Stained Glass Fingering:

After I dyed the purple mini-skein gradient, one of my lovely customers suggested making a blue gradient as well, so I did! I have a limited-edition gradient set of mini skeins available in (mostly) blue:

There are three semi-solids and two variegated colorways. From left to right they are Serenity, After the Rain, Renaissance Blue, Dreams of the Sea, and Annunciation Blue. I have them on two different yarn bases–Silken Fingering with 20% silk and So Silky Fingering with 50% silk, which is shown above. You can get them right here.

July Club Colorway

Since this July 4th is the 250th anniversary of America, I decided to choose a painting to celebrate. I chose a painting of George Washington by Edward Percy Moran. He painted this one, Washington at Home, in 1911. I love the fact that the painting shows ordinary life. President Washington is just sitting in his living room reading a book while Martha knits.

Washington was the one who chose to be called Mr. President and not any of the honorifics by which heads of state were known in Europe. I think this scene illustrates that well:

Next month I’ll go back to our chronological order for the club. We left off in 1783 last month, so we’ll be moving forward from that for August, getting closer and closer to my favorite art period of all time–Impressionism. On a Personal Note

As I write this, our oldest daughter and her family are heading back home after a nice visit. We had a “staycation” at our house. We played lots of board games, went to a science museum, read lots of stories, and had some time to swim at a neighbor’s house too. Our 3-year-old grandson has an amazing vocabulary, and he has us all wrapped around his darling little finger. Our 8-month-old grandson is just all smiles and cuteness.
