I have some fresh-dyed colorways to share with you this week.
The first one is Oak Creek Canyon. This was inspired by the beautiful canyon that goes from Sedona up to Flagstaff. Here’s a photo of the canyon itself:

…and here’s the yarn inspired by my memories of the canyon from when we lived in Arizona:

Oak Creek Canyon looks great with The Winedark Sea. In fact, I have both of those colorways in stock on Squoosh DK at the moment. Here is The Winedark Sea on Squoosh DK:

Another autumn colorway I dyed is Autumn Leaves on Buttery Soft DK:

This is a perennial autumn favorite and goes well with The Winedark Sea, Burgundy Rose, Sunflower, and Eggplant.

It’s not too late to make something fun for Halloween, so I dyed a little more Ghoulish on Squoosh Worsted…

…and I still have more Halloween Party on both Squoosh Worsted and Stained Glass Fingering. Here it is on Stained Glass Fingering:

–
I also dyed Evergreen. Here it is on Buttery Soft DK:

I also have Evergreen in stock on Squoosh DK. One of my favorite colorways to go with it is Planet Earth:

–
Another semi-solid I dyed is Regal on Squoosh DK:

I have Regal in stock on several different yarn bases. I especially love it with Northern Lights and Beautiful Galaxy.
–
I dyed Beyond the Grey Havens on Squoosh DK.

Beyond the Grey Havens was inspired by the very end of The Lord of the Rings. It occurred to me that you could make a gorgeous gradient using Sea Glass, Galadriel’s Gift, and Beyond the Grey Havens together.
–
The last colorway I dyed is another Lord of the Rings colorway–A Light in Dark Places on Quick and Cozy Bulky:

Quick and Cozy Bulky is super when you want the satisfaction of a project that works up in very little time! This is the only colorway I have in stock on Quick and Cozy Bulky, but it is available dyed to order for most of my colorways.

What I’m Knitting
After the big Four Seasons Wrap I published last week, I wanted something fun and somewhat easier, so I’m designing a sea-themed crescent shawl with a variety of different sea-themed stitches. I’m using Day at the Beach, Sea Glass, and Dreams of the Sea to make it.

The tentative name is The Beach Shawl. I’m still on the first colorway, Day at the Beach, but here it is so far:

In Other News
I’ll be doing a trunk show at Lonestar Yarn in Bedford, Texas, on October 24th. If you are in the area, please stop by and say hello. Kris Murphy, the owner, tells me it’s also Malabrigo day in her shop that same day, so there will be lots to see and enjoy in this friendly, well-organized shop.
On a personal note, our younger grandson turns one year old this week, and I’m excited to share his birthday and watch him try cake for the first time. In our family, we have the tradition of giving the one-year-old his very own little cake and watching to see how he eats it. Some of our children have daintily handed out bites to siblings while others have done a face-dive into the cake. It’s always fun to see how this tradition shows the personality of the birthday boy or girl. Is that a tradition in your family too? Do you have other traditions for first birthdays?

Call for Show and Tell Projects
Let’s do a Show and Tell newsletter either next week or the following week. If you have a WIP or FO to share, please send me a photo and the name of the pattern you used if you used one. Handspun yarn, weaving projects, wet felting, and needle felting are all very welcome too. I love getting to see and share what you have made!
