Yarn Advent Calendars, Spin Together, and a Make Room for Autumn Sale

Happy weekend! I have a few important things to tell you about today.

First of all, I’m running out of space for all the new autumn colorways, so I’m having a 15% off sale on my spinning top and quite a few art batt colorways too. It’s a great time to stock up for the second Tour de Fleece and for Spin Together. Just head on over here and use the coupon code MAKEROOM4AUTUMN15.

Here are a few of the items in the sale:

Also on the topic of spinning, I wanted to mention Spin Together once again. I started Spin Together last year with a small group of fiber artists, and we’re getting ready for the second annual spinning competition. Since it’s online and everywhere, it can continue regardless of COVID-19, which makes me so happy!

There are contests for team yardage, individual yardage, and also two creative categories–one for the Wildest Art Yarn skein and one for the Most Beautiful Skein. It’s a lot of fun and a chance to hang out with a great community of spinners.

Team creation is going on now through the 27th of August, and we are of course delighted to have prize sponsors as well. You can find out more at www.spintogether.org.

The competition itself will take place beginning wherever you are at noon on October 3rd and ending at noon on October 10th. Last year we began and ended at midnight, but I had underestimated the devotion of some of the spinners, and the mamma in me hated the sleep deprivation, so this year we’re going with noon.

I also want to talk to you about this year’s Yarn Advent Calendars. I will be including a printed copy of Ambah O’Brien’s new ADVENTuresome Wrap as part of your kit, and I am designing the yarn colorways to look fabulous with her beautiful, lacy, wavy pattern.

I don’t want to give away too much about the colorways because the surprise is part of the fun, but I will tell you that they will be colors you can wear all year long and that there will–of course–be speckles.

You will receive 24 individually wrapped 10 gram sock-weight mini skeins as well as a full-sized skein. Each skein will be numbered, and the idea is to open one skein every day starting on December 1st and ending on Christmas Day.

You have a choice between a sparkly yarn base (Shimmer Sock) and a non-sparkly yarn base (Comfy Sock) for the 10 g mini skeins. You also get to choose between Sock Perfection, Sparkly Merino Sock, and So Silky Sock for the full-sized skein.

That means you can choose no sparkle, some sparkle, or all sparkle depending on your preferences.

One thing I want to mention is that supplies truly are limited. Due to COVID-19, some of the mills had to close down. They are open again now, but it may take a few months to catch up to demand. Someone quipped that yarn is the new toilet paper.

That said, I don’t feel comfortable taking preorders unless I have the yarn on hand, which I do. As of now, I have 9 sets available for Comfy Sock and 3 for Shimmer Sock.

I’ll be dyeing them up and shipping them out by November 20th for orders within the U.S. and October 20th for any orders to Canada.

You can find out more details here. If you have any question, please don’t hesitate to email me.

Meanwhile, stay well and happy fiber artistry!
