Two New Yarn Bases, Some New Hand-Dyed Top, and a Christmas Colorway for the Very Organized ;-)

Good morning and happy Friday to you. Today I wanted to tell you about two new yarn bases I have, some new hand-dyed top, even an early Christmas colorway.

Let’s start with the yarn bases. As you know, I have been really excited about the Stained Glass Fingering yarn base since I started carrying it last winter. Now I’m adding two more Stained Glass yarn bases.

Stained Glass DK

The first is Stained Glass DK. It’s wonderfully soft and squishy. I am of the opinion that DK is pretty much the perfect yarn weight–warm enough for fall and winter but cool enough for a summer evening too. It’s tremendously versatile and works up quickly too. This new Stained Glass DK is no exception. I just have it in a few colorways so far, but I’ll be adding more in the weeks to come. Here is what I have so far:

Stained Glass Sock

The second new base I have is Stained Glass Sock. It’s similar to Stained Glass Fingering, but it’s a better base for actual socks. Stained Glass Fingering is wonderfully squishy and soft, and it’s made of 100% superwash merino wool. Stained Glass Sock is made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon, making it great for socks. Both are two-ply yarn bases, but while Stained Glass Fingering has more squooshy softness, Stained Glass Sock has more drape. Here are the two side by side:

I find it so interesting how different the two yarn bases are even though they are similar in yardage, materials, and plies. I believe the Stained Glass Sock was more tightly plied in the mill, and that is the predominant difference.

I have a nice selection of Stained Glass Fingering in stock since I have been carrying that for awhile, but let me show you the new kid on the block. I just have two colorways on the new Stained Glass Sock so far, but they are two favorites of mine. I hope you like them too!

The Holly and the Ivy

In addition to lots of fall colorways, I decided to go ahead and make one of my Christmas colorways for those of you who are already thinking that far ahead. Here is The Holly and the Ivy on several yarn bases:

Hand-Dyed Top

Last but not least, I wanted to share some new hand-dyed top with you. I dyed it on a really soft 70% superwash merino / 30% nylon top that’s perfect for making handspun socks or any project where you want the strength of nylon along with the softness of merino.

I think that’s everything for today. Stay well and have a wonderful weekend!
