So Long, Sport! ;-)

Good morning and happy Friday to you. The title of today’s newsletter is not directed at you. Rather, I’m talking to my sport-weight yarn, Super Sport. It’s such a lovely yarn base–so plump and squishy and soft. Nonetheless, I have decided to discontinue it because sport weight just isn’t getting as much use as other yarn weights these days.

I’m offering 20% off the remaining stock of Super Sport when you use the coupon code SOLONGSPORT20. If you click on this link, the coupon code will be added to your cart automatically.

Newsletter subscribers get first dibs, so I will wait to mention the sale on social media or on my my website until tomorrow.

Fresh-Squeezed Yarn

I am happy to report that this has been a very productive week in my studio. I had finished sending all the yarn Advent calendars to their new homes, and it wasn’t quite time to dye up the November club colorways, so I was able to dye up quite a few different colorways a variety of yarn bases.

I started the week with Sapphire Dreams, which is one of my favorites. Here it is on the ultra luxurious Diamond Silk Sock:

Diamond Silk Sock is made of 100% mulberry silk. It’s very lustrous and very strong and, well, silky.

After Sapphire Dreams, I dyed Sunflower. Here that is on Buttery Soft DK for the first time:

Buttery Soft DK is made of baby alpaca, silk, and untreated merino. If I had to choose just one yarn base (and I’m so glad I don’t), this would probably be it.

After Sunflower I dyed up Purple Iris for a customer who asked for it and made more for the shop at the same time. Here it is on Sparkly Merino Sock along with Sunflower and Phantom of the Opera. I love these three together and think they would make a great shawl, don’t you?

After Purple Iris I dyed The Winedark Sea, shown here on Stained Glass Sock:

This colorway was inspired by Homer’s Odyssey.

As I write this, I’m waiting for the latest batch of Van Gogh’s Starry Night to cool so I can wash it and hang it up to dry. I dyed it on Sock Perfection and Sparkly Merino Sock. Here it is atop Dawn Barker’s Float Shawl on Sparkly Merino Sock:

By the time you read this, Starry Night will be washed, spun, drying on my racks, and listed in the shop.

Spinner’s Advent Calendar

I want to thank everyone who already ordered a Spinner’s Advent Calendar. Meanwhile, the last day to order one will be Monday, and there are still a few left. If you or your favorite spinner would enjoy spinning around the color wheel with some extra goodies as well, you can find out more right here.

Thank you, Veterans!

Last but not least, tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and I want to express my deep gratitude to veterans and their families who sacrificed so much in the battle for liberty and justice. The state of the world right now makes it especially clear just how vital your sacrifice continues to be. Thank you!
