A Black Friday Sneak Peak, the December Club, and a New Colorway Close to My Heart

Good morning and happy Friday to you. This week, I would like to let you know what I’ll be doing for Black Friday, get your thoughts on which painting to use for the December club colorway, and also show you a new colorway that is close to my heart.

Before I do any of that though, I have to show this to you. My birthday was this week, and I had been asking for a clock for my studio. Well, my sweet husband made this for me:

Isn’t it adorable? And how perfect for my Purple Lamb studio! The hours each have the right number of sheep with different breeds. I can’t get over how delightful the clock is and how amazing my husband is for being able to make this!

Black Friday Sneak Peak

Black Friday is one of my biggest sales of the year, and I wanted to let you know ahead of time what to expect. I am grateful for your support of my small business all year long, and a big sale is the best way I know to say thank you!

The sale begins on Wednesday morning, and it will run through Monday. That way even if you are super busy making yummy things for Thanksgiving, hopefully you can find a snippet of time to sit down and take a look at what you would enjoy from the sale. There will be no coupon code needed. I’ll be offering 20% off all of the following:

  • All In-Stock Hand-Dyed Yarn
  • All Hand-Dyed Silk Scarves
  • All My Knitting Patterns

I’ll make a single collection with everything in the sale so you can see it all in one place, and I’ll send out a reminder on Wednesday morning once the sale is live.

December Club Colorway

I have made it a tradition to choose a Christmas-themed painting each year for the December club colorway. This year, I am having a lot of trouble deciding from among four different beautiful paintings, so I thought I would ask you to vote on them. You are welcome to vote even if you are not a club member. Here are the four paintings I am considering:

  • #1 Top-Left Adoration of the Kings by Giuseppe Chiari
  • #2 Top Right: Adoration of the Shepherds by Philippe de Champaigne
  • #3 Bottom Left: Adoration of the Kings by Joseph Adam Ritter von Mölk
  • #4 Bottom Right: Madonna and Child by Carlo Francesco Nuvolone

Just send me a quick email with the number of your favorite, and I will tally up the votes and let you know the results next week. I look forward to your emails!

Fresh from the Dye Pots

This week, I finished the November club colorways and got them on their way. I also dyed Mithril on one yarn base, Freedom Blue on several, and Visit to Lyme on lots of yarn bases. Here is Visit to Lyme on So Silky Sock for the first time:

Here is Mithril on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Here is Freedom Blue also on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Though the Fig Tree Blossom Not

In addition to those, I created a new colorway this week. Israel has always been and will always be close to my heart. In recognition of the terrible suffering caused by the terrorists in October, I created a colorway based on the Israeli flag. I am calling it Though the Fig Tree Blossom Not, which is a line from one of the Old Testament prophets. It is a song of hope in the midst of suffering. I made Though the Fig Tree Blossom Not on Sock Perfection and Squoosh DK. Here it is on Sock Perfection:

Here it is on Squoosh DK:

It is an assigned pooling colorway and would look great on its own or with Freedom Blue.

However, it can be used without regard to assigned pooling as well. I made a hat so you can see how it knits up in simple stockinette:

From now through the end of the year, I am going to be donating 25% of the proceeds from this colorway to the American Friends of Magen David Adom. Magen David Adom provides emergency medical care in Israel. They are basically the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross. Here is the link to their website.

I just made one batch on each of the two bases this time, which you can find here. However, I also set up a preorder for both Though the Fig Tree Blossom Not and Freedom Blue right here so you can choose from a wide variety of yarn bases. I’ll leave the preorder up through the end of the month, but I’ll be dyeing up your orders as I get them. If you order the skeins I already dyed, I’ll ship them right away. If you order from the preorder listing, you can expect it to take a 1-2 weeks for me to ship them out.

I think that’s everything for this week. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I’ll “see” you with the link to the sale on Wednesday morning.
