Show and Tell – October 2026

I have some beautiful projects to share with you for this week’s Show and Tell newsletter!

The first project comes from Dede who used Hawaiian Sunset for a blanket she is crocheting. She started it while on vacation in Aruba, which seems so very fitting!

Isn’t it lovely?

Gail sent in the next project. It’s the Fern and Moss Cardigan by Anja Heumann.

Here it is in her own words: “I am sorry that my camera didn’t pick up the depth of color (and sparkle!) of Ocean at Night. I knit this sweater with one strand of Sparkly Merino Sock, and one strand of Suri Lace Cloud. People always ask me if they may touch it, of course I say “yes,” and they comment on how lovely and soft it is! This is my first sweater, so there was a learning curve, but I persevered (there were a few times she had to sit in the cupboard until she shaped up!), and I am so happy I did! The pattern is ‘Fern and Moss Cardigan’ by Anja Heumann. The text was in both English and German, and I found it, and purchased it from the website Love Crafts.”

I’m so amazed that this was her first sweater! Isn’t it beautiful?

Jennifer shared the next project. She used the Honey Hat pattern by Lisa Richardson Design for the hat and made mittens and a cowl as well:

She used Monet’s Cathedral and Annunciation Blue on Squoosh DK to make them. I especially love the beautiful ribbing on all the edges!

–

The next project is from Karen. She was test knitting Floral Rhapsody for Michele Lee Bernstein. It was published just this month.

She used Carnevale on Sock Perfection for the assigned pooling portion and Cascade Marine for the semi-solid portion. Doesn’t it look great? What a fun pattern and what beautiful work!

–

Lynn sent in the next project. It’s a shawl she designed and knit using my Odysseus colorway on Buttery Soft DK:

Doesn’t it look fabulous? I love the eyelets along with all the colors!

–

Lynn also shared this fabulous hat she made using A Light in Dark Places on Quick and Cozy Bulky:

She made bobbles whenever she got to the assigned pooling section. I can’t get over how fun this is!

–

Marty sent in some photos of the Aurinko Shawl by Nicola Susen that she has been working on:

She is using Peacock Eyes on both Twinkle Fingering and Stained Glass Fingering along with some black yarn for the stripes. She says she is a quarter of the way through binding off all 1100+ stitches and plans to wear it to a Halloween party!

–

Magdala shared a beautiful scarf she crocheted using three different Lord of the Rings colorways:

Here’s what she said: “Three LOTR colorways in Sock Perfection, moss stitch on a 3.5 mm hook and 440 cast on chain. I worked 6” and then worked another 6” from the cast on edge, which provides a lovely fold line. A beautifully meditative project, and since finishing this one I’ve started another because it is so satisfying to crochet and wonderful to wear on my twice daily long walks.”

I think she used Chasing Orcs and Hobbits, The Coronation of Aragorn, and The Wedding of Aragorn and Arwen.

Magdala also shared this fabulous scrappy blanket she crocheted:

Here’s what she said: “I made this simple chevron moss stitch blanket with sock yarn leftovers, held double, 4.5 mm hook. I didn’t really have a plan, but I really loved weighing and choosing the next color. Each row used about 4 grams of yarn. It is my favorite colorful cuddle.”

I think this might be the most delightful scrappy project I’ve ever seen!

I’ll leave you with a skein of yarn I spun. I used one of my Sedona art batts to spin it and then chain-plied it:

Chain-plying is basically making a crochet chain with your hands as you spin, turning a singles yarn into a 3-ply while preserving the color order. It’s very satisfying.

Today at a homeschool co-op we are part of, I brought my Dreaming Robots e-spinner. Several children and several of the other moms had good questions about spinning, and I’m always delighted to share it with people.

That’s it for this month’s Show and Tell projects. Aren’t they wonderful? I hope you find some inspiration for your next project!

Advent Calendar Update

All the Advent minis and full-sized skeins are dyed, washed, and twisted. I’ve spent the last several days putting the first of the yarn bases into their little boxes, and I started shipping them today. Be on the lookout for your shipping notification. It will take about another week to finish shipping all of them. I made a video of all the colorways in order, and I’ll be sharing it in January.

Shell Stitch Markers

My daughter and son-in-law made more of these beautiful shell stitch markers that are made of real shells:

These work for knitters and crocheters alike. They are like natural jewelry for your projects! You can find them right here.

Trunk Show

I’ll be at Lonestar Yarn in Bedford, Texas, all day Saturday for a trunk show. I hope to see some of you there. I’ll be taking all my in-stock yarn and stitch markers, so if there’s something you’ve been thinking of ordering, you might want to do it before Saturday!

Have a wonderful weekend!
