Show and Tell and the End of the Sale

May 12, 2022

Good morning! This week I get to do a show and tell newsletter. As I have mentioned before, I really love doing these because I get to show off the beautiful things some of you have made from my yarn and fiber. I hope these beautiful projects inspire your next project!

Before we get started with the Show and Tell, I wanted to point out that my big 20% off sale is still going on. Thank you so much to everyone who has taken part! The sale started with Mother’s Day weekend and continues through this Sunday. Tomorrow actually marks the 10th anniversary of my first sale on Etsy! It also happens to be our 28th wedding anniversary. Here’s what we looked like way back then:

I can’t get over how young we looked!

Show and Tell

Today I have lots of wonderful projects to show you. Let’s start with these pretty socks made by Andrea. She used Sapphire Dreams to make them.

FYI, I’ll be dyeing up a new batch of Sapphire Dreams sometime in the next couple weeks.

Next up is this beautiful top that Shirley made. The pattern is called Laced with Stripes by Andrea Yetman (Ravelry link). Shirley used Eggplant for the top and Autumn Leaves for the bottom.

Next up are Karen’s socks. She used the Vanilla Socks pattern by the Crazy Sock Lady (Ravelry link). She used Starlight to make these. Aren’t they great? The pattern includes a video for making socks using Magic Loop.

The next project I get to show you is Pat’s amazing sweater. She used Casapinka’s (no need to) Panic Sweater pattern (Ravelry link). The yarn is my club colorway yarn from February inspired by Monet’s “Houses in the Snow.”

Next I have two pairs of fabulous socks from Cheryl. She made the first pair using my Liberty colorway. Aren’t these great? The pattern is called The Sock Pattern to End All Sock Patterns by Anne Hanson (Ravelry link).

Cheryl also made some socks using Party Like It’s 2021 with the same pattern, proving that the pattern is aptly named. Aren’t these socks delightful?

Cheryl’s Party Like It’s 2021 Socks

I just dyed up a new batch of this colorway, but for a while now I have been trying to figure out a slightly different name for it. I love the colorway, but I created it back in the summer of 2020, and then I named it Party Like It’s 2021 with the assumption that the pandemic would be long behind us by 2021. Well, as we all know it didn’t work out that way. Normally I avoid renaming colorways because it causes confusion, but after much pondering, I decided with this one to just keep moving forward and name it after next year each year, so Party Like It’s 2021 will be Party Like It’s 2023 this year.

I’ll leave you with a project of my own. This is our daughter Mary who just came back from Rome. While she was gone I was busy weaving this poncho for her birthday. The warp is alternating stripes of Phantom of the Opera and Monet’s Cathedral, and the weft is A Little Princess, all on So Silky Sock.

We’re probably going to be trimming a couple inches off the fringe of the poncho. I made one for myself at the same time using the same warp and a Sparkly Merino Sock colorway for the weft. I love ponchos because they are so cozy and comfortable, and they stay on with no fiddling needed.

Next Show and Tell

I always love seeing what you’re making! If you have a project to share–whether it’s a FO or a WIP–just email it to me anytime. You don’t have to wait for the next Show and Tell. I save up the photos you send me for the next one, and I try to do a Show and Tell newsletter every two months, so the next one will probably be in July.

Pagliacci

In addition to Party Like It’s whatever I end up renaming it, I dyed up Pagliacci on six different bases this week, and I made a small change to the recipe that made a rather significant change to the yarn. Here it is on Feather Sock for the first time:

Pagliacci on Feather Sock

It’s a little more subtle and sophisticated now.

I think that’s everything for this week. Have a great weekend!
