Mother’s Day and 10th Anniversary Sale!

Good morning, and happy Friday to you. I have several things to tell you about this week, but I’m going to start with the biggest and most important news.

Sale!!!

This week I’m having a humongous sale to celebrate two awesome events. The first is Mother’s Day. If you are a mom or if you’re looking for something wonderful and unique for your mom or wife, you’ve come to the right place.

The second cause for celebration is the 10th anniversary of my very first sale of handspun yarn on Etsy, which happened on May 14th, 2012. How have 10 years passed so quickly? I’m still just as excited as I was then to get up every morning and do something I love that brings you joy and helps my family too!

To celebrate, I’m offering 20% off all my hand-dyed yarn, hand-dyed top, hand-dyed silk scarves, and even a small selection of handspun yarn. The coupon code will be applied automatically.

I’m starting the sale today, and it will last all the way through the 15th! In the meantime I’ll keep listing new things as I make them. You can find everything in the sale right here, or you can just browse through my shop at www.purplelambfiberarts.com to find just what you need, knowing that the coupon code will be there for pretty much everything except art batts and clubs.

Handspun Yarn

In honor of my 10th anniversary, I decided to include some of my handspun in the sale since that’s where it all started. Way back then, my business was called Monet’s Garden Art Yarns. I eventually decided to change the name to something a little easier to remember and more whimsical too.

Here’s one of the skeins of handspun I have in stock at the moment. This is Girl with a Pearl Earring:

Shirts, Coffee Mugs, and Totes for Fiber Artists

I also have some really fun t-shirts, totes, and coffee mugs of my own design just for fiber artists. This has been on my to-do list forever, but I’m just getting started. Here is my favorite:

I have this and several other designs available right here.

A New Hand-Dyed Colorway

I also wanted to show you a new colorway I dyed up this last week. It’s called Ocean at Night, and I was imagining being on a sailboat and watching the moon rise over the horizon and seeing all the reflections of blue and purple in the water. I originally created this colorway as an art batt a long time ago, but I created it anew as hand-dyed yarn. Here it is on Squoosh DK:

Another Example of Planned Pooling

Last week I showed you several colorways I dyed up for planned pooling as well as a small sample I had knit from one of the colorways called Bejeweled. Well, I started knitting up another sample on Neon Lights. I’m just knitting stockinette, so you would think it would get boring after awhile, but instead it’s just fascinating to see the argyle pattern showing up as I knit. Here it is so far:

I’ll probably make a little cowl with buttons from this when I’m done. It took a couple tries to get the magic number right, and I was just about ready to frog it again when I started to see the pattern emerge about 4 inches in. Now I can’t wait to sample up Sedona Sunset too.

A Knit-Along with Chic and Regal Knits

Helaina of Chic and Regal Knits and I have been collaborating on a new pattern she is creating using my Sparkly Merino Sock. That will be coming out a little later this summer. Meanwhile, she is doing a Knit-Along for her Picot de Gallo pattern (Ravelry link), and she is kindly offering a 15% off coupon for the pattern for all of you when you buy the yarn from me. You’ll need two skeins of the same colorway in either a worsted-weight or a DK-weight yarn. The coupon code for Picot de Gallo is PURPLEPICOT15. If you have the perfect yarn from me already in your stash, that counts too.

The KAL posts will be on Helaina’s Happy Knitting group on Facebook, You can also post your progress on Instagram using the hashtag #PicotdeGalloKAL. The knit-along begins on June 6th, so there’s plenty of time to get what you need.

A New Loom

Some dear friends of ours offered me a floor loom! It belonged to his mother, and it’s a Gilmore 4-harness jack loom from the 1960s. It has been in a storage shed for a number of years now, and we brought it home yesterday. It’s actually too big to fit through our door without taking it apart, so my sweet hubby and our youngest boys are out on the front porch dusting it off and preparing to take it apart before bringing it into our house.

After we get it inside, it’s going to get a fresh coat of wax, and then we’ll figure out what comes next.

I’m so excited and grateful, but I’m also a little terrified because I have never actually used a floor loom. I’ve been weaving on rigid heddle looms for almost 20 years now, and a floor loom has always been on the someday list, but thanks to our friends, someday just arrived! If you are a weaver and have any suggestions for me regarding refurbishing an old loom and/or getting started with weaving on one for the first time, I’m all ears!

Show and Tell Next Week

I would like to do the next Show and Tell newsletter next week. If you have any finished projects or works in progress that you have made using Purple Lamb yarn or fiber, I would love to include them. Just email me a photo or two along with the pattern info if you used a pattern. I love sharing your beautiful creations!

Have a wonderful week!
