Assigned Pooling, Dyeing, Kits, Pattern

Flutterbies

This week I have all four of my current butterfly-inspired colorways in stock. While I was dyeing them up, I was reminded of my oldest sister. When she was little, she couldn’t say butterfly, so she said flutterby instead, and it just stuck. I bet your family has some fun words like that too!

Here are the four “flutterby” colorways together:

From left to right they are:

  • Quino Checkerspot, which is a Splashed and Speckled colorway with two shades of orange, black, and white
  • Indian Jezebel, which is an assigned pooling colorway with orange, yellow, and white
  • Monarch, which is a tonal colorway with several shades of orange
  • Colorado Hairstreak, which is another assigned pooling colorway with deep purple, a bit of lilac, and two shades of orange

Here are the butterflies that inspired the colorways:

I only dye these on Stained Glass Fingering because the black ply makes the “veins” of the butterfly wings.

One of these days I plan to make a shawl pattern just for these butterfly colorways, but in the meantime, my Metamorphosis Shawl would be a great option. You could alternate the two assigned pooling colorways and the two “regular” colorways. If you decide to do that and want some help with the order of colorways, I’d be happy to offer my suggestions.

Angel Wings

I also dyed the three most popular colorways for the Angel Wings Ponchette on Stained Glass Fingering this week:

From left to right they are Monet, Purple Delight, and Epiphany. You can find all three individually here.

If you would like to make your own Angel Wings Ponchette, you can get all three colorways and the pattern too in the kit right here on your choice of yarn bases.

Here’s what the Angel Wings Ponchette looks like:

Many thanks to everyone who preordered an Advent calendar already. There are still more available.

I also have some other fresh-dyed colorways in the New section of my shop.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
