Black Friday Sneak Peak, Silk Scarves, Stained Glass Sock, and the December Club Colorway

Good morning and happy Friday to you. I have a few things to share with you this week. I’m going to let you in on my plans for Black Friday/Cyber Monday ahead of time so you can make your plans. I also want to show you some new silk scarves I have dyed up, some colorways dyed on Stained Glass Sock for the first time, and a little bit of hand-dyed fiber too. Last but not least, I want to tell you about the December club colorway painting.

Black Friday Sneak Peak

Let’s start with the Black Friday Sneak Peak. Starting on Black Friday and going through Cyber Monday, I’m taking 20% off almost everything in my shop. The coupon code will be THANKFUL20, and it will be good for all my…

  • In-Stock Yarn
  • Kits & Sets
  • Hand-Dyed Top
  • Art Batts
  • Spinning and Felting Add-Ins
  • Tools
  • Silk Scarves

That’s pretty much everything except my clubs, gift cards, and dyed-to-order yarn.

Help Spread the Word

I would be grateful if you could spread the word among your yarn- and fiber-loving friends. If a friend of yours puts your first and last name in the Note to Seller at checkout during the sale, I will give you a $5 gift card to my shop as my thank you. The limit is 10 friends or a $50 gift card. Thanks for helping out a small business!

Be sure to include both my website (www.purplelambfiberarts.com) and the coupon code (THANKFUL20) if you let your friends know about the sale.

I’ll be emailing those gift cards in the week after the sale.

Silk Scarves

I asked if any of you would be interested in more silk scarves, and the answer was overwhelmingly positive, so I dyed up some new silk habotai scarves. They are the long thin kind this time. They measure 7 x 70 inches, and they can be styled so many different ways. They are great to enhance any outfit, and they also make great gifts!

I made two of each colorway. The way the colors blend together is unique for each and every scarf even if I make the same colorway twice, so if you see one you like, you might not want to wait.

Stained Glass Sock

I also wanted to show you some colorways I have dyed up for the first time on Stained Glass Sock. I am so in love with this yarn base! It’s silky smooth and delightfully fun. The black ply running through the yarn gives each colorway a really elegant look and feel. Here are some of the colorways I have in stock right now:

Hand-Dyed Top

I don’t want all of you spinners and felters to think I have forgotten you. I certainly have not. Last Saturday I dyed up some amazing Merino/Cashmere top. It’s a 70/30 blend. Here is Garden at Longbourn, inspired by Pride and Prejudice:

…and here are some lovely kid mohair locks I dyed up as well:

December Club Colorway

I have made it a tradition to use a Christmas-themed painting for December for the last few years. This year the painting is related, but it is a painting from nine months before Christmas. I’m going to be creating yarn and art batts inspired by Fra Angelico’s “Annunciation.” Here’s the painting:

The blue that Mary is wearing is what inspired my Annunciation Blue colorway. My only dilemma is this. The photo above shows the painting the way most of us have probably seen it, which is before it was restored. Here it is after it was restored in 2019:

It’s a pretty stunning difference, isn’t it? I have to decide whether to use the unrestored but better known or restored version for December! If you are interested in learning more about the restoration process, I will leave you with a video from the Prada Museum about it:

Isn’t that amazing? Can you imagine being responsible for restoring such a famous painting and how exciting and how terrifying it would be?

I think that’s everything for today. I hope you have a happy and stress-free Thanksgiving holiday. I hope to “see you” next weekend!
