Aran Go Baa, Wonderful Worsted, and a Birthday Sale

Happy Friday, my friend. Today I have several things I want to tell you about.

I have a new aran yarn base, I have been dyeing up lots of new colorways on Wonderful Worsted, and I’m having a birthday sale this weekend on my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn.

Let’s get started!

Aran Go Baa

First of all, I want to introduce a new aran-weight yarn base. It’s made of 100% superwash merino, and it comes in big 115 gram skeins with 210 yards per skein. It’s warm and cozy, and I named it Aran Go Baa.

My husband’s family is very Irish, so Erin Go Bragh, (Irish Gaelic for Ireland Forever) gets tossed around. Aran Go Baa is sort of a play on that phrase.

If you aren’t familiar with aran-weight yarn, it’s between worsted weight and bulky weight, and it’s perfect for cold weather and quick projects.

I mentioned last week that Joseph, our 15-year-old son, has been dyeing up some yarn, and he is actually the dyer responsible for the three colorways we have available on Aran Go Baa so far. He is working under my supervision, but he’s the one who dyed these. I’m so proud of him!

Ocean Waves (top left), Ocean Depths (bottom left), and Macaw on Aran Go Baa

Ocean Waves and Ocean Depths were dyed using all the same colors but two different dye techniques, so they would be great together. Macaw on the right was inspired by the beautiful parrot we saw during a recent trip to the zoo.

Wonderful Worsted

I have also been dyeing up a lot of great colorways on Wonderful Worsted. Like Aran Go Baa, Wonderful Worsted is made of 100% superwash merino. It’s a lovely, squishy base that’s perfect for cold weather. I’ve noticed some of the really well-known designers have been doing a lot more in worsted-weight these days. Take a look at Andrea Mowry’s Spark sweater and also her brand new Honey Moss shawl for a couple of examples.

Meanwhile, let me show you what I have in Wonderful Worsted:

I also dyed up the “Complicated” trio this week on Wonderful Worsted. From left to right the colorways are Party Like It’s 2021, It’s Complicated, and Complications.

I used the same speckles on all three colorways. Depending on how things go, I may have to change the name of Party Like It’s 2021 to Party Like It’s 2022.

There’s also this combo that I love so much. On the left is Enchanted Forest, and on the right is Chocolate, both dyed on Wonderful Worsted. Enchanted Forest was inspired by all the forests in all the great works of literature with a special nod to The Lord of the Rings. You can curl up with a great audio book while eating chocolate and knitting or crocheting. Sound good?

I have only recently been discovering the joys of audio books so I can knit (or card art batts or weave or package orders) while listening to a book. It felt like cheating to me for a long time, but I’m over that. It’s a way to do two immensely enjoyable tasks at once. Am I the last one to discover that?

Birthday Sale

I mentioned a sale, didn’t I? Why, yes, I did. My birthday is this weekend, and since birthdays and sparkle go together, I’m offering 15% off all my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn. I have a lot of it in stock!

I won’t tell you how old I’m turning, but we like to play birthday math games in our family, so I will tell you this: Until my birthday, I’m still prime, but after my birthday I won’t be any longer. Take that however you choose. 😉

Here are just some of the colorways I have available in Sparkly Merino Sock:

Just use the coupon code NOLONGERPRIME15 to take 15% off any of my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn. If you click here, the coupon code will be applied automatically when you check out.

The sale will last through Monday.

Have a great weekend, and happy fiber artistry!
