Announcing the March Club Colorway

March Yarn and Fiber Clubs

As many of you know, I started several different yarn clubs and a club for art batts just last month. Each month’s exclusive club colorway is based on a famous painting. For the March colorway, I decided to use Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” as inspiration.

This is going to be a lot of fun to dye!

You can sign up for the yarn and fiber clubs anytime, but the deadline to sign up in time to receive the March club colorway is March 1st. After that, I’ll be dyeing up the yarn and carding the art batts for everyone who has signed up. It’s easy for members to start, stop, pause, and switch clubs whenever they want. You can find out more about each of the clubs on my website here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask  anytime.

Knitters’ Retreat

In other news, I got to spend last Saturday at La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona, at a knitters’ retreat. This was the first time I had been to Winslow, and I have to admit that every time I say the word, the song by the Eagles pops into my head–the one that goes “standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona…” We even saw the corner referenced in the song as we drove into town.

I was invited to bring my yarn to the retreat, which was organized by Teresa McDowell, the gracious owner of The Shop at Nob Hill in Albuquerque. A lovely group of knitters and a few crocheters from Albuquerque went by train to Winslow to spend the weekend knitting, chatting, and taking classes such as a class on two-color brioche knitting. Several people from my local fiber group joined in the fun to meet them there, and there were a few other indie dyers there too. I always love to see the wonderful colorways created by other indie dyers. It never fails to amaze me that we all manage to come up with so many different colorways. The creativity never ends.

Anyway, everyone in the family helped (okay–the 4-year-old and 2-year-old “helped”) set up the yarn and then my husband took our 13-year-old, 4-year-old, and 2-year-old sons to see the meteor crater while our 16-year-old daughter stayed to help me. The plan had been for them to pick up my daughter around midday and head off with her to see the painted desert and petrified forest too since those were the ones she wanted to see. Unfortunately, our old Suburban had other plans and wouldn’t start when they were ready to leave the meteor crater. Fortunately, a capable mechanic was open on a Saturday and was able to replace the fuel pump, so we still made it home by the end of the day. Many thanks to Angel’s Auto Repair in Winslow, Arizona!

I apologize for the photo quality, but there was a window right behind my grid wall. Here’s our lovely daughter wearing the vest I wove for her and standing in front of our display of yarn and art batts too. I even had a little time to spin while I was there.

Sedona Knit Wits

At the same time I was getting ready for the knitters’ retreat in Winslow, I have also been preparing for a month-long event at Sedona Knit Wits. The lovely owner, Linda, invited me to be their artist of the month for March, so lots of Purple Lamb yarn will be heading their way in just another week. I wanted to make sure I had plenty for Sedona Knit Wits but enough to still have a great selection in my online shop at the same time, so I’ve been dyeing lots and lots of yarn.

Sedona Knit Wits is just a 30-minute drive from me, and we are planning a few opportunities for me to go and visit with customers and answer questions and maybe even sit and knit awhile.  Linda has such a lovely, pretty, open and inviting shop, and I’m really grateful to her for inviting me to be a part of it. If you’re ever in Sedona, do stop in.

Yarn Giveaway

Last but not least, my Choose Your Yarn Adveture Yarn Giveaway is still going on for a few more days. If you haven’t already signed up for it, please do. Here are the skeins you get to choose from:

Snow!

One more thing–we woke up to a beautiful bunch of snow this morning. We just get snow once or twice a year if we are lucky. Isn’t this pretty? I hear that Flagstaff, which is an hour north of us and 4000 feet up, got 35 inches!!!

The kids got up early to play in the snow. It’s just the sort of day to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and a knitting project in front of a warm fire. Now, where did I set that poncho I’m working on?

Happy fiber artistry!
