A New Yarn Colorway, New BFL/SeaCell Top, and an Upcoming Trunk Show

Good morning and happy Friday to you! This week I dyed up 4 new colorways on a lovely BFL/SeaCell top. I also created a new yarn colorway I’d like to tell you about.

Hand-Dyed Top

First let me show you the BFL/SeaCell top.

BFL/SeaCell Top

It is made of 70% Blue-Faced Leicester (BFL) and 30% SeaCell. If you aren’t familiar with SeaCell, it’s made of seaweed and eucalyptus leaves, and it’s naturally antimicrobial.

Each braid of top is 4 ounces or a little more, and each of these is dyed in a repeating pattern. These would be super for hats to socks and everything in between.

One of my concerns about the new studio was whether the one available window for photography would work with just natural light, and I’m happy to report that it does.

Bohemian Rhapsody

I also wanted to show you a new yarn colorway. Last week, a lovely lady named Alison sent me a colorway suggestion. She had purchased a skein of Carousel Horse, and she liked it as it was but thought a new colorway that was similar but without the yellow would be great too. I agreed and dyed it up. In fact it was the first colorway dyed in the new studio.

Here it is on Sparkly Merino Sock:

This was one of those times when the colorway came before the name. It’s very dramatic with Eggplant, Burgundy Rose, Cherries Jubilee, Renaissance Blue, and black. I decided in the end to name it after that fantastic song by Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

I guess that’s a little outside my usual wheelhouse of classically derived names, but, hey, it’s classic rock, right?

I just made two of each yarn base to start, but I can certainly dye up more if you all like it as well as I do.

Trunk Show at On the Lamb

There’s one more thing I wanted to mention. I’m going to be having my first trunk show since COVID began and since we moved to Texas. It will be at On the Lamb in Grapevine, Texas, on July 9th and 10th. I am so grateful to Heather for inviting me. If you are in the area, I would really love to meet you..

I think that’s everything for today. I hope you and yours have a fantastic Independence Day this year.
