What’s New – Show & Tell

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a lovely time with extended family at our home, and I was so proud of our 13-year-old son who actually did the majority of organizing and a lot of the work as well.

Thank you so much to everyone who took part in my Black Friday sales. I really am so grateful to all of you, and so is my family!

I’m getting ready to be a part of a craft fair at my local parish on Saturday. If you’re local, please stop by. It will be in the parish hall at Immaculate Conception. I’ll have gift certificates for the shop there as well as all of my yarn and quite a few handwoven and hand-knit items.

Today is the last day I can dye yarn and hope for it to be dry in time for the craft fair. As we speak, I’m dyeing up more Marianne on So Silky Sock and also Jane Fairfax for the first time on So Silky Sock. That makes 3 different Jane Austen colorways on So Silky Sock, and they are made to coordinate with each other. The other one is Lizzie.

Here’s Marianne getting her last layer in the dye pot now:

And here’s Jane Fairfax:

I originally made nine different Jane Austen heroine colorways last spring and dyed them all on Silky Sparkly Lace, and I decided to put these three colorways–Lizzie, Marianne, and Jane Fairfax–on So Silky Sock as well. I shared a cowl pattern that would work just as well with So Silky Sock as it did with the original Silky Sparkly Lace. Here’s a link to the free pattern.

I also dyed up my Black Butterfly colorway on So Silky Sock for the first time. I was concerned about whether it would actually work because of the silk in combination with the Ikat dye technique. I won’t get into all the technical details, but suffice it to say that it worked beautifully, and I’m so pleased! Here it is:

The last new goody on So Silky Sock is Confetti. It’s pure speckles in Poinsettia Red, Bright Blue, Yellow, Lilac, and Purple, and it would go beautifully with so many different colorways. I’m hoping to get to play with a skein of Confetti myself, but if you get it first, I know where I can get more!

I’ve also dyed up quite a bit on my new Donegal base, including more of Nebula on both Donegal Sock and Donegal DK.

A friend of mine made a hat using Donegal DK. The effect of the nebs is actually quite subtle. Here’s a picture of the hat being modeled by my lovely daughter:

Here’s Highland Heather on the same wonderful new Donegal base in both Donegal DK and Donegal Sock. I had sold out of the sock weight and just made some more yesterday.

I’m still experimenting with this new yarn base to see what colorways work well on it. My favorite colorway on this base so far was inspired by nearby Sedona. I love the texture of the nebs along with the colors of Sedona. The nebs look like the small rocks that are everywhere here. Here’s Sedona on Donegal Sock. I also have it on Donegal DK.

Meanwhile, I am waiting on another order of mini skeins to continue dyeing up the Twelve Days of Christmas Set. Thank you so much to everyone who ordered a set! I couldn’t wait to start dyeing these up, so I got a bit of an early start. I hope none of you mind if I show you a sneak peak of what I’ve dyed so far.

Twelve Days of Christmas in the Making

I am making one extra set beyond those that have been ordered, and I could potentially make three more still, but tomorrow will be the last day to order these.

I also have another ten undyed skeins of So Silky Sock and ten or so undyed Donegal Sock skeins as well, so if you are looking for a particular colorway, please feel free to contact me.

I sold out of quite a few of my art batt colorways during the Black Friday sale, so I’m working on making more of those over the coming week.

As we head into the holiday season, I hope you are never too busy to find at least a little time to sit down and weave or knit or crochet or spin or felt–whatever brings you joy.

Happy fiber artistry!
