Show and Tell, Sale on Super Sport, and a Few New Yarn and Fiber Colorways

I hope you are staying well and able to find some time to slow down and enjoy the things that matter most.

Last week, I promised that we would do a show and tell newsletter. It’s an opportunity to show the beautiful things people have been making using Purple Lamb yarn and fiber and hopefully provide some great inspiration for your next project.

I also want to tell you about the sale I’m having on my Super Sport base and show you a few new yarn and fiber colorways.

Let’s start with Show and Tell, shall we?

Show and Tell

This time around, I received photos from four different people, and I love how they represent such a great variety of the fiber arts.

First up is a photo Carolyn sent of this beautiful scarf that she made:

The pattern came from Hitomi Shida’s book, Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible. It’s pattern number 52. Carolyn used just one skein of Contentment on Sparkly Merino Sock to make the scarf.

Next, I want to show you this beautiful handspun yarn that Rachel made using my Anachronism art batts. Isn’t the texture of Rachel’s yarn fantastic?

Margaret sent me a photo of the shawl she made with her Purple Lamb Twelve Days of Christmas set. She used Casapinka’s Towanda! pattern. I have so many of Casapinka’s patterns in my queue right now, but this was one I hadn’t heard of before. I love the way Margaret combined the different colors to make this stunning shawl!

The last show and tell photo I get to share with you came from Emily. She sent me a photo of this beautiful shawl she made using Isabel Kraemer’s pattern, Gryer.

She created the shawl using a skein of School of Athens on Buttery Soft DK from my yarn club and a skein of Sunset Orange on the same wonderful soft yarn base. Isn’t it lovely?

A warm thank you to Emily, Margaret, Rachel, and Carolyn for sharing their beautiful projects with all of us!

It is my goal to do a show and tell newsletter every couple of months, so please feel free to email me photos of what you’re knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving, or felting whenever it is convenient. I save them up until the next show and tell post. I would love to hear from you any time at all!

Sale on Super Sport

I saw an adorable sign online the other day from one of the shops that carries my yarn. It said, “Hoard Yarn, not Toilet Paper.” In that spirit, I thought I’d make it a little easier to do just that by having a sale on one of my favorite yarn bases. It’s my Super Sport yarn base, which is made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. It’s a lovely, round 3-ply yarn with great stitch definition, and of course it’s very soft.

I have five different Super Sport colorways that I created to mix and match, and I’m offering 20% off all of them now through Sunday when you use the coupon code, HOARDYARNNOTTP. If you click on this link, the coupon code will be applied automatically when you check out. This one is just for those of you who get my newsletter because stock is limited, and I want you to have the first opportunity.

Here are the colorways available:

I also have one more Super Sport set, which is included in the sale as well:

There are some really amazing new patterns by fantastic designers that use sport-weight yarn. The two that I have been eyeballing are Andrea Mowry’s Shift cowl and Heidi Kirmaier’s Vitamin D sweater.

Some New Colorways

I have a dear friend who is a cancer survivor and just an amazing and brilliant lady. She told me once that she had never been through any difficulty in her life without having The Lord of the Rings by her side. Those books have been favorites of mine as well since I was a teenager, and they often provide comfort and words of wisdom in difficult times. I’m sure you have noticed that they also provide a lot of inspiration for yarn and fiber colorways in my shop.

In these very difficult times, I was thinking of the scene in Gondor that takes place in the houses of healing after the terrible battle in The Return of the King. An old nurse recalls the legend that said, “The hands of the king are the hands of a healer.” Of course the king of which the legend spoke was Aragorn, so I created a new colorway inspired by Aragorn called The Hands of the King. It has bluish green, brown, gold, copper, blue, and royal purple. I hope you love it as much as I do! I only made a couple skeins to start, but I can certainly make more.

I have also made another batch of Beautiful Universe on Sparkly Merino Sock and Rivendell on Sock Perfection this week as well, and I’ll be starting to dye up this month’s club colorways tomorrow. I was experimenting today with a few possible techniques for making them, and now I’m ready to go and can’t wait to get started.

I’ll leave you with After the Rain, one of my favorite art batt colorways. It was inspired by the sun coming out after a storm with the storm clouds still off in the distance but all the beautiful freshness of sky and flower and air. We’ll get there.
