Show and Tell – August 2025

I have some really lovely projects to share with you for this month’s Show and Tell! The first one is this gorgeous shawl that Emily crocheted using her Eight Days of Easter kit plus a little stash yarn:

The pattern is Lorraine Pugh’s Ultimate Sacrifice.

Here’s a closeup of the lace:

Next we have this amazing blanket that Kathleen knit. When I asked her if there was a pattern, she said, “There isn’t any pattern. I work it from my head horizontally. I memorized the sheep and donkeys 5 blankets ago.”

I am just in awe that anyone can create something like this out of her own amazing mind! I hope the recipient treasures this for a lifetime!

The next project is from Rachel. This is a closeup of her lovely cables from Cable Wings by Chevon Bell:

She used my Winedark Sea colorway to make it.

Next is this beautiful shawl from Emily that she crocheted using Beautiful Universe:

The pattern is the Flower Valley Halfcircle Shawl by Martina Supova.

Leslie sent in a photo of one of her wonderful cardigans. This is a design of her own making:

She made it using Vivaldi’s Summer on Squiggle Sock. You can see all the great texture from this fun yarn base.

This next photo is a different type of project. Sandi figured out a great way to reuse the organza bags I send art batts in:

Here’s what she said: “Our soil is mostly rock and very poor for growing anything but cactus. But, it seems every May, I just have to get dirt under my fingernails and add color—which I crave. This year, I was at a loss for ideas—and have a dog who digs. I love viney things and covered fences. So, I got this idea to fill these bags with potting soil and flower seeds—nasturtiums and morning glories—then hang them on the fence with a nail. They’ve just started growing and as they’re needing it, I’m cutting patches so they can hang down. I’m encouraged so far that this will be a successful experiment!”

Isn’t that a fabulous idea? I am right there with Sandi about the need to garden when spring comes! How about you?

Next we have this lovely WIP that Pam sent in. She’s using Copper Roof on So Silky Sock to make The Bright Side by Lori B.

I have one more stunning shawl from Emily that she crocheted using Peacock Feathers on Buttery Soft DK:

The pattern is the Fronds Shawl by Joanne Scrace.

I’ll leave you with a project of my own. This is one of several tote bags I have woven recently. I used undyed Buttery Soft DK for the warp so I could full it and yarn I spun from my Purple Iris art batts for the weft.

I’m putting it to good use as a book bag. I have a few more I still have to sew up, and then I’m hoping to do a little tutorial for these.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

I have lots of fresh-dyed colorways to share with you–soft, dreamy colorways and bright happy summer colorways too. Here’s a sampling:

You can see them all in the New section of my shop right here.

On a Personal Note

This has been one of those crazy weeks with so much going on all at the same time. I’ve been dyeing like a mad woman while my husband and sons have been working on some remodeling projects. One son is heading off for a backpacking trip while my husband and another son are acting in a production of Arsenic and Old Lace. The funny thing is that my husband of 31 years played a dead body in the same play before I met him. That’s the only thing I know about the play, and I’m trying to avoid spoilers until I see it on Saturday.

I think that’s everything for this week. Right about the time you read this I should be dyeing the first Advent calendar colorways. See you next week!
