Assigned Pooling, Crochet, Kits, Knitting, Show and Tell

Show and Tell – April 2026

This week I have some really lovely projects to share with you.

This first project was made by Amy. She used the Lotus Pool Shawl by Dora Does:

Isn’t this gorgeous? She crocheted it using my Monet’s Water Lilies colorway on Squoosh DK. She actually made two–one for her mom and one for herself–and they plan to take them on a trip to see Giverny, Monet’s actual garden in France. I’m so excited for them!

Andrea sent in a photo of this delightful hat that she made:

The pattern is the Slipstream Hat by Louise Zass-Bangham. She made it using Afremov’s Farewell to Anger on Squoosh Worsted.

Karina shared a photo of her beautiful shawl. It’s called the Time to Leave Shawl by Kate Whiting:

Karina used Rosy-Fingered Dawn, Paris, and Sapphire Dreams on Buttery Soft DK.

Next we have a WIP from Lynn–a lovely shawl of her own design:

She combined Purple Iris on So Silky Sock with Regal on Suri Lace Cloud, using drop stitches with Regal.

After discussing planned pooling last week, Sue shared this amazing project she made using Martina Behm’s Pool and Conquer design:

It’s a cowl and a stole combined. Isn’t that fascinating and amazing?

Sue also reminded me of a website I forgot to mention last week. It’s plannedpooling.com, and you can use it to play around with different numbers of stitches to see what it will look like before starting to knit.

Mary sent in a photo of this next FO. The pattern is called Easy Goes It by Finicky Creations, and Mary said she wanted a design that would really bring out the colorway, which was The Great Black Bull on Sock Perfection.

I think she made an excellent choice, don’t you?

I also have one of my own to share. It’s this year’s Eight Days of Easter kit. The pattern I included with the kit was a variation of the Field of Flowers pattern I just published a few weeks ago. Here it is being blocked:

…and here it is on Madame, my mannequin:

For all the assigned pooling colorways, the accent color from one colorway became the main color for the next one. If you got one, I hope you really enjoyed it!

Fresh from the Dye Pots

Last week I mentioned the new Planet Earth colorway that I was in the process of dyeing, and now I can actually show it to you:

As I mentioned, it was inspired by the recent Artemis Mission. I also read and then watched Project Hail Mary, which may have played into the idea a bit as well. If you like sci-fi, you might enjoy the book and the movie. I loved the book, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the movie was too!

Anyway, I have it dyed up on Sock Perfection and available dyed to order on all the yarn bases.

I also dyed up all three of the Odyssey colorways on Stained Glass Fingering:

From left to right, they are Odysseus, Penelope, and Telemachus. I designed the colorways based on the characters. You can find them individually or as a set right here.

I also dyed Caribbean Blue on Stained Glass Fingering for the first time, and it would look great with the Odyssey colorways.

If you’ll indulge me in another literary foray, I’m currently listening to Ithaca by Patrick Dillon. It just came up on my audible suggestions, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s a novel based on The Odyssey told from the perspective of Telemachus and Odysseus. I haven’t finished it yet, but so far it has been very faithful to Homer’s Odyssey while focusing much more on the thoughts and feelings of Telemachus and Odysseus. I love to listen to audiobooks while I knit, spin, and weave. It gives my brain something to play with while my fingers are busy. Do you do the same thing?

Last but not least, I dyed up a bunch of Texas Bluebonnet on Sock Perfection because ’tis the season:

Here’s a hat I crocheted for our violin teacher’s baby using Texas Bluebonnet:

…and here’s a knit sample I made:

I think that’s everything for this week. I hope the fiber arts bring you joy today and every day!
