Show and Tell and Advent Calendar Reveal

Good morning and happy Friday to you. I hope that 2023 is treating you well so far!

Today I get to share some beautiful projects with you, and I’ll also be revealing the 2022 Lord of the Rings Advent Calendar colorways too.

Show and Tell

Every couple months I have the privilege of sharing beautiful projects that my customers have made using Purple Lamb yarn and fiber. My hope is that these will inspire your next project!

This month, I have so many lovely projects to share! Let’s start with Adi’s baby sweater. She used Lothlorien on Sock Perfection to make the So Faded Pint-Sized sweater by Andrea Mowry.

Next up are two fabulous projects by Pat. Both patterns are by Casapinka. They are the Snark-o-Meter pattern and The Sharon Show. These look like so much fun to make, don’t they?

Caroline made the next project, which is just perfect for this time of year. It’s called The Dragon Watcher’s Hood by Tiny Owl Knits, and Caroline used my Midsummer Night’s Dream colorway to make it.

This next project is a cowl that Lydia spun and knit from two of my club colorway art batts. Lydia is the owner of Woolly Mountain Arts on Etsy. She has some amazing handspun art yarn in her shop! For this cowl, she spun the art batts thick and thin and knit three quarters of the scarf lengthwise using a scarf pattern from SpinningWheelStudio on Etsy. Then she added to it using an elongated stitch with the other art batt.

Next up is a new pattern by Carol Wells. Both the sweater and the baby are darling! The pattern is called the Puffer Jacket Baby Sweater. Carol used my Buttery Soft DK for her design, and the colorway shown here is Sage.

Next up are two sweaters knit by Mona using Joji Locatelli’s Boxy Sweater pattern with some modifications. For the first one, she used A Light in Dark Places for the body and delightful parti-colored sleeves. I love how it worked up! Here that is:

Mona made the second sweater using Javert, and once again it’s so cool to see how it worked up.

Sara made the next project. It’s the Towanda Shawl by Casapinka, and she used my club colorway from last June. The variegated colorway was inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s painting, Blue and Green Music, and she also used the matching semi-solid, Freedom Blue. Isn’t Sara’s shawl beautiful?

Sara used a different Casapinka pattern for my September club colorway. The colorway was inspired by Ghirlandaio’s painting, Leda and the Swan, and she used Casapinka’s Hug Shot pattern. The matching semi-solid colorway was Rosy-Fingered Dawn. Here is her lovely shawl:

Your Slip Is Showing Sets

Last week I showed you the sets I made for Casapinka’s Your Slip Is Showing pattern. I still have a handful of them left right here, but I really wanted to show you Pat’s Your Slip Is Showing project that she made using my yarn before I made the sets. Great minds…. Here it is:

Advent Calendar

I want to take the opportunity to share the Advent calendar from December with all of you. This year, the theme was Frodo and Sam’s journey through The Lord of the Rings, so each colorway was inspired by a place along their path. Most were new colorways that I created just for the Advent calendar. A few were old favorites. I made twenty-four 20 gram mini skeins using Silken Sock. Here are all the colorways in order:

Here are a few photos of the colorways being boxed up in my studio:

I included Ambah O’Brien’s Radvent Wrap as part of the kit. Linda was kind enough to share her WIP with me. Here that is:

Pat chose to use a different pattern for her Advent colorways. It’s called Napz by Casapinka, and it was designed with a mini-skein set in mind too. Here that is as a WIP:

Last but certainly not least is Shirley’s finished Radvent wrap here:

I love how it turned out, and I hope everyone who got an Advent calendar this year enjoyed creating with it. I’m already thinking about 2023. I may come up with some other ideas in the meantime, but right now my top two ideas are to continue with The Lord of the Rings but follow Aragorn through his journey or to do the characters from Downton Abbey. Please do let me know if you would prefer one or the other or if you have a different theme I should consider.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

This was my club colorway week, so my main focus has been on dyeing up, carding up, and packaging up the January art-inspired clubs. I did, however, also manage to dye up Paris and Party Like It’s 2024 on lots of different yarn bases. Here is Paris on Stained Glass Sock:

Here is Party Like It’s 2024 on So Silky Sock:

You may notice that I have cynically updated the name by another year.

Next up will be Phantom of the Opera, and I have a couple patterns in the works as well. Until next week, happy fiber artistry!
