Show and Tell!

Good morning, everyone! I am sending the newsletter a couple days early this week because on Friday and Saturday I will be at a trunk show with the lovely Kris of Lone Star Yarn in Bedford, TX. If you are in the Metroplex, please come say hello. I would love to meet you in person.

Also related to the trunk show, I’ll be closing down my shop online from Thursday afternoon through Sunday so nothing gets sold twice accidentally. If there’s anything you have your heart set on, you might go grab it now.

Show and Tell

Every couple months, I do a Show and Tell newsletter where I have the privilege of sharing beautiful things you have made with my yarn and fiber. It’s always such a joy to get to see and share these projects, and it’s my hope that the photos will inspire your next project!

Just so you know, I linked to the patterns on Ravelry, but if you keep your patterns on a different website, you should be able to find many of these elsewhere.

Let’s start with this project by Andrea. She made the Ranger Cowl by Michael Vloedman using Renaissance Festival on Squoosh DK. Doesn’t she look great in it?

Next, we have this beautiful hat made by Bobbe. She made it using A Light in Dark Places on Wonderful Worsted.

I especially love the color wave at the rim, don’t you? FYI, I’ll be dyeing up more of this colorway soon. Between the Ukraine colorways, the March club colorways, and the upcoming Eight Days of Easter kits, it has been a wee bit busy around here lately.

Next up is Candi’s beautiful Intersection Cowl by All Knit Up Designs here:

She made it using Black Butterfly on Squoosh DK. I don’t have any Black Butterfly in stock right now, but if you would like me to make some, just email me to let me know.

This next project is something I made. This is a shrug I wove, and I have been wearing it almost every day since because it’s so cozy and comfortable. I used Ice on Stained Glass Sock for the warp, Monet’s Cathedral on Stained Glass for the weft, and about every 5 inches, I added a pick (that means a single row) of the really crazy wild yarn I made from my Ocean at Night art batts for Spin Together last fall.

I took the measurements from a book called Simple Woven Garments by Sara Goldenberg and Jane Patrick. The pattern is called Fall Blaze Shrug.

The next thing I have to show you is a beautiful shawl that Leslie made using Crocuses in Snow on So Silky Sock. She used Helen Stewart’s Hundred Acre Wood pattern.

I have been looking at this pattern for a long time. Leslie’s beautiful project makes me want to make a Hundred Acre Wood shawl right now!

Next up we have Nicki’s socks that she made using A Little Princess. I love the way the colors worked up together in Nicki’s socks. She used the Diversity Basic Socks pattern to make these.

Next, we have a sweater Leslie made using Ode to the West Wind on So Silky Sock. Here it is:

When I asked Leslie what pattern she used to create this beautiful sweater, she told me she made the pattern herself! She said if any of you would like the details, she would be happy to walk you through it. Just email me if you do, and I’ll put you in contact.

The next project I get to show you is by Marilyn. She used a mini-skein set I had made called Objectivity to create this cowl. The pattern is That Nice Stitch Cowl by Susan Ashcroft.

What a perfect use for the mini-skein set!

Next we have a pair of socks by Nicki using Phantom of the Opera. Once again she used the Diversity Basic Sock pattern, which is a free top-down sock pattern.

Phantom of the Opera is one of my personal favorites.

Next up is a beautiful scarf by Leslie. The pattern is the Rose Garden Scarf by Iris Schreier, and she is using Enchanted Forest on Buttery Soft DK.

The last project I have for you today is by Pat. She made Casapinka’s Pinions pattern. She used all Purple Lamb yarn–some mini skeins and a variety of different colorways.

What I love about Casapinka’s patterns is how varied there are. There’s no chance to get bored because she uses all different stitch patterns. Pat is so amazingly organized that she has a complete list of all the colorways used. If you would like her list, let me know I’ll share it with you. Meanwhile, here is her beautiful Pinions poncho before it has been seamed:

It starts out as a long rectangle that is sewn into a poncho with a cowl neck added on. Pat also sent some closeups of some of the fun stitch patterns:

Aren’t these all amazing and beautiful? It’s such a delight to share them with you!

Ukraine Colorways

I am so pleased at what we have been able to do together! Thanks to all of you, I have sent $328 to the Ukraine Solidarity Fund from the sale of Sunflower so far. As I mentioned last week, I’m sending 25% of the sales of this colorway to them throughout March. Originally I was going to wait until the end of the month to send the donation, but my husband pointed out that they need it NOW, so I’m send the donation each week instead. It’s a small thing, but at least it is something we can do to help together.

The whole situation is so awful that I have mostly just stopped watching the news in favor of doing something I can do instead.

After the first batches of Sunflower and Freedom Blue sold out, I switched to preorders for both, but instead of waiting until the end I’m dyeing them up as the orders come in. I’ve sent out many orders already, and I have a full rack drying right now. They’ll be going to their new homes as soon as they are dry.

Last Week to Get Your Eight Days of Easter Kit

Speaking of preorders, this is the last week to order an Eight Days of Easter Kit. As of right now, I have 12 left, and the last day to order is the 15th, which is next Tuesday. I want to be sure to have plenty of time to dye them up, put the kits together, and send them to you in plenty of time for Easter.

Here is a photo of Lisa Hannes’ Take It All knitting pattern that I’ll be including with the kit–with different colorways of course:

When I purchased the patterns from Lisa, she kindly included download codes so you can store the pattern on Ravelry. I will also be including a nicely printed copy with the kit.

I think that is everything for today. I hope you have a lovely week and find some time to knit, crochet, weave, spin, felt, or all of the above!
