Once in a Blue Moon Colorways

The Mother’s Day sale was over and all the orders were on their way. I was caught up on all the dyed-to-order orders, and I had finished shipping all the club colorways. That meant I had a day to dye anything I wanted! I decided to dye a colorway I only manage to dye once in a blue moon–Beautiful Universe.

Here it is on Stained Glass Fingering:

…and here it is on Feather Fingering:

This colorway was inspired by the simple fact that the universe is stunningly beautiful–the stars, the nebulae, the galaxies! It’s all so astonishingly wonderous, isn’t it? Beautiful Universe has nine different dye colors, and it looks a little different every time I dye it because of how the dyes play together–just like the stars. You can see what I mean with the skeins above.

You can find Beautiful Universe dyed and ready to ship on both yarn bases right here.

I also have Beautiful Galaxy dyed and ready to ship on Sock Perfection right here. Beautiful Galaxy has more of a purple hue overall.

Beautiful Galaxy is available as a dyed to order colorway as well right here.

Another once in a blue moon colorway I dyed this week is Chasing Orcs and Hobbits on Stained Glass Fingering:

…and the third colorway is Oak Creek Canyon, inspired by the gorgeous canyon in Northern Arizona:

This one definitely has more of an autumn vibe, but who says you can’t enjoy autumn colors all year long?

New Collages for Dyed to Order

After finishing the collages for the art batts, I decided to make collages for the dyed to order colorways as well. The collages include the yarn itself, the inspiration for the colorway, and (where I can) a sample or project that uses that yarn. Here’s an example:

I would love to know what you think. Here’s the Dyed to Order section of my shop with all the new collages. Does it help you find what you’re looking for a little more easily? Do you like seeing what inspired the yarn or how the yarn can work up all in one place? Or is it too busy?

It’s always my goal to make it easy for you to find what you’re looking for, and I’m hoping this does, but please let me know your thoughts either way.

A Sneak Peak of a Design in Progress

I’m working on a new knitwear design using the same general shape as the Angel Wings Ponchette shawl and the same flowers as the Field of Flowers shawl. I think I’ll call it the Field of Flowers Ponchette. I’m not very far along yet, but here’s a sneak peak:

It starts with a rolled collar followed by a yoke’s worth of bamboo stitch in a semi-solid colorway. After that it switches to an assigned pooling colorway with the aster stitch. Near the end it will switch back to the semi-solid colorway and something lacy that I haven’t quite figured out yet.

I’m using Sock Perfection for the design with Lilac for the semi-solid and Wisteria for the assigned pooling colorway. However, I permanently reversed the colors in Wisteria because it makes a lot more sense for the flowers to be lilac instead of green, right?

I don’t have a publication date for this yet, but I’m hoping to be done by sometime this summer.

On a Personal Note

This week my husband and I celebrate our 32nd anniversary! It is a privilege to share my life with this wonderful man! Here are a few photos from our wedding day:

Gosh, we look young!
