More Goodies – Starry Night and Silk Hankies

Good morning, and happy Friday to you! This week, I have been doing a lot of work on things I can’t show you–dyeing up club colorways and also turning big skeins of Stained Glass Sock into mini skeins for my Eight Days of Easter kits. I wish I could show both of those to you right now, but I have to wait so as not to give away the surprises. If you are a club member, the rest of the yarn and art batts are going out today. If you ordered an Eight Days of Easter kit, I will be shipping those by March 26th in plenty of time for Easter.

Meanwhile, though, I also dyed up some more Starry Night on lots of different yarn bases. This is the assigned pooling version. Here it is on Feather Sock for the first time:

I dyed Starry Night on Sock Perfection, Sparkly Merino Sock, Super Sport, and Squoosh DK as well. Any of those would work for my new Long Way Round pattern, and the various sock-weight yarn bases work great for Dawn Barker’s assigned pooling patterns. In case you haven’t seen it before, here is Dawn’s Float Shawl knit by my friend Natalie in Starry Night on Sparkly Merino Sock:

Additionally, I dyed up some more silk hankies for spinning, knitting, felting, and paper-making. Like I mentioned the last time I dyed them, these are one of a kind. I guess I should say they are two of a kind because I typically dye two ounces of each colorway. Here are the new silk hankies:

Each stack is 1 ounce and somewhere between 30 and 40 individual silk cocoons. Here’s a tutorial I made years ago on how to spin them.

I also dyed a little more Renaissance Festival and Burgundy Rose in the last few days.

Show and Tell

I’d like to do another Show and Tell newsletter either next week or the following week. It’s such a pleasure to see and share what you all have made. Please email me photos of your WIPs and FOs made with Purple Lamb yarn or fiber so I can share them, and we can all share inspiration for our next projects.

I hope things are getting to look like spring in your part of the world. I’m enjoying my favorite season with so many beautiful flowering trees, and my husband and I are trying to decide which ones to plant to add a little more color to our yard. Have a wonderful week!
