Field of Flowers Shawl Pattern

This week I published a new shawl pattern called Field of Flowers. It’s a top-down crescent shawl, and it uses two skeins of assigned-pooling yarn. I used Monet’s Water Lilies on Sock Perfection for the sample, but any fingering-weight assigned pooling colorway will work. Here’s the front:

…and here’s the back:

It has assigned pooling sections punctuated with eyelet rows, and it ends with a pretty lace edge. I included clear instructions for the assigned pooling stitch and some ideas for variations as well.

If you ordered one of this year’s Eight Days of Easter kits, you’ll notice that the pattern is very similar. I actually designed them both together–one for the Easter kits and one for more general use. Here’s a closeup of the assigned pooling stitch:

You can learn more about the pattern and order one either on Ravelry here or on my website here.

If you’d like to order yarn to go with the pattern, you’ll want two skeins of fingering-weight yarn dyed for assigned pooling. Here is what I have in stock that would be good for the Field of Flowers shawl, and here is what I have in the dyed to order section of my shop.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

I’ve been dyeing up lots of different colorways. I dyed Purple Iris for the first time in quite awhile. It’s dyed in color blocks with dark purple, lilac, spring green, and yellow–just like our neighbors beautiful irises. Here it is on Sock Perfection:

Here are the other colorways I’ve dyed this week on Sock Perfection:

…and here are the colorways I’ve dyed on Stained Glass Fingering:

You can find all of these in the New This Month section of my shop right here.

North Texas Yarn Crawl

If you are in the DFW area, there’s a really fun event coming up. It’s the spring Yarn Crawl that takes place between April 17th and April 26th. It’s like a pub crawl but for yarn! You can find out more on their website at www.northtexasyarncrawl.com. Be sure to stop by Lone Star Yarn in Bedford. It’s a very friendly, wonderful place, and the owner, Kris Murphy, is very knowledgeable and helpful. You’ll find a nice selection of Purple Lamb yarn there too!

Have a great weekend!
