Featured Pattern: So Faded

Last time we met, I showed you some of the many possibilities for the Free Your Fade shawl pattern by Andrea Mowry on Ravelry using yarn from Purple Lamb. That pattern requires 3 different skeins of sock-weight yarn. This time, I wanted to show you some possibilities for the So Faded pattern, which is a raglan sweater that calls for 5 skeins of sock-weight yarn. Of course, there are lots of other patterns that call for multiple colors, so just consider this eye candy to be able to see some possibilities.

Like I mentioned last time, I have been focusing on dyeing yarn where one of my variegated colorways matches a number of tonal yarns and vice-versa, making it easy to mix and match for patterns like this one and the many other wonderful fade patterns out there. I know it can be really hard to figure out whether yarn is actually going to match when you’re looking online, so I’m trying to make that process much easier for all my fellow fiberisti.

Without further ado, here are some 5-skeins sets that would look wonderful together. All of the colorways we’ll be talking about today are on my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn, which is 92% superwash merino and 8% lurex.

From left to right, there’s Eggplant, Anachronism, Burgundy Rose, Speckles & Sparkles, and Irish Moss

From left to right, there’s Mithril, Burgundy Rose, Snapdragons, Lilac, and Irish Moss. Lilac has lots of speckles. The others are very tonal but don’t have speckles except for Snapdragons, which is variegated, tonal, and speckled. 🙂

From left to right, there’s Sunflower, Purple Iris, Lilac, Irish Moss, and Eggplant. Sunflower, Lilac, and Purple Iris are all speckled and tonal. Eggplant and Irish Moss are tonal.

From left to right, there’s Jade, Black Butterfly, Burgundy Rose, Mithril, and Lilac.

From left to right, there’s Eggplant, Lilac, Serendipity, Irish Moss, and Margarita. I usually don’t reskein my variegated yarn, but I did with Serendipity.

From left to right, there’s Margarita, Sunflower, Scandinavia, Boysenberry, and Sky Blue. Sunflowers is speckled with magenta and green, and Sky Blue is speckled with a darker blue.

From left to right, there’s Burgundy Rose, Sunflower, Irish Moss, Bouquet (my own personal favorite), and Lilac.

I hope you found something to inspire your next knitting project. Happy fiber artistry!
