Christmas Colorways and Club Colorways

This week I thought I would show you all my new Christmas colorways. I also want to let you know what the December club colorway will be and show you a new addition to my website.

Christmas Colorways

Let’s start with the Christmas colorways. First of all, I made some mini-skein sets. I took the name from that wonderful line in Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” when the reformed Scrooge asks a little boy what day it is. His response, “Why, Christmas Day,” is the name of the set.

Next up is an art batt colorway designed by my son. I named it Childhood Christmas because it reminds me of the warmth and coziness of a Christmas from childhood–yours or mine.

These would actually go quite nicely with my Renaissance Festival art batts.

Next is Christmas Candy. I dyed Christmas Candy on my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn here:

I love the way it looks on the sparkly yarn base.

However, if you are a less-than-super-speedy knitter like I am, you might appreciate the fact that I also dyed Christmas Candy on my Quick and Cozy Bulky yarn base. Here it is:

I have one more colorway that is sort of related to Christmas and sort of isn’t, but I wanted to show it to you anyway. I named it Epiphany. Here it is on Sparkly Merino Sock:

It’s actually quite similar to A Little Princess, but it’s much, much darker.

December Club Colorway

I started my yarn clubs last February and restarted my art batt clubs at the same time, so this is my first Christmas for my clubs. I decided to go with Gerritt Van Honthorst’s “Adoration of the Shepherds.” Here it is:

“Adoration of the Shepherds” by Gerrit Van Honthorst

Look at the joy on all of their faces as they behold Baby Jesus. Look at the light emanating from Him and how it is reflected in the Blessed Virgin’s face and also in Saint Joseph’s face to a slightly lesser degree. Look at the awe of the shepherds. I certainly hope I don’t cause anyone scandal by imitating this beautiful painting of the holy family using mere yarn and fiber. That is not my intent. Quite the opposite.

I am going to have to think long and hard how to come close to the chiaro-scuro in this painting, but I can’t wait to try!

As usual, the last day to join a club or make changes to your subscription is on the 1st of the month.

Gallery of Club Colorways

I did a thing today. I have been wanting to do this for many months, but I finally did it. I made a gallery page of club colorways on my website showing each month’s colorway since I started back in February. The photos are quite varied from month to month, but I’ll try to make them more consistent in the future. It’s nice to be able to see them all in one place.

If you have been thinking about joining my yarn or fiber clubs, seeing the colorways I have already made might also be helpful to you in deciding whether you want to join or not.

Favorite Colorways

Now, with that in mind, I would like your opinion please. I would like to add two or maybe three colorways from my 2019 club colorways to my regular lineup of colorways for 2020. This is open to everyone and not just club members. Take a look at the Club Colorway Gallery and then send me an email with your favorite one anytime before Thanksgiving. In gratitude for your time, I’ll send you a coupon code for free shipping on your next order within the USA. If you live elsewhere, be sure to mention it in your email, and I’ll send you a different coupon code.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family, fun, and great food. I also hope you find a little time in the midst of all the busyness to step away and relax with some yarn or fiber.
