A Small Sale, a New Sparkle Option for Art Batts, and a New Club

Happy Friday to you! I hope you are doing well and that you live somewhere cooler than I do right now.

I have a few things to talk to you about today, so let’s dive right in.

A Small Sale

Phantom of the Opera on Splendid Sock

As I have mentioned before, the mills shut down in the spring of 2020 as a result of COVID, and that made it difficult to source all of my yarn bases. I am hoping that the worst of that is behind us! For awhile I was not able to get my Sock Perfection yarn base, so I added Splendid Sock to the mix. Splendid Sock is almost just as nice as Sock Perfection, but Sock Perfection is just a wee bit softer, so now that I have a reasonable expectation of getting more when I need it, I’ve decided to go back to just carrying Sock Perfection in full-sized skeins.

That’s a long way of saying that I am going to be discontinuing Splendid Sock, and I’ve put all the remaining skeins on a nice sale with $5 off per skein, which is right about 20% off.

I have also made the tough decision to at least put Alpaca Lace Cloud on hold for now, so I’m doing the same thing with both the Alpaca Lace Cloud I have in stock and my Knit and Chat Infinity Scarf Kits.

You can find all of those right here. I already discounted them, so you don’t need a coupon code this time.

Sparkle or No Sparkle for Art Batts

I know some of you love Angelina and firestar while others are not so fond of sparkle, so I wanted to make it easy for you to pick any of my 60+ art batt colorways and choose whether or not you want sparkle in it.

I decided not to change the contents, so if you want to go with the original “recipe,” you can easily see whether it includes sparkle or not. If you choose sparkle for an art batt that didn’t have it in the original, I’ll choose Angelina and/or firestar that will be a good match. If you have a particular preference, just be sure to mention it in the note to seller, and I’ll do it if I can.

New Club Yarn Base

I have decided to add a new yarn base to my monthly clubs. It’s my Squoosh DK yarn base, and it’s made of 100% superwash merino. It’s an extra-soft merino (19.5 microns) that comes in extra-large 115 gram skeins.

This will be the second DK-weight yarn base I have for the clubs. The first one is Buttery Soft DK, and I’ll be keeping that as well. I know many of you really love it, so it isn’t going anywhere. If you are trying to decide between the two, here are a few things to know:

Just like all of my clubs, each month’s colorway on Squoosh DK will be inspired by a famous painting. I also offer my clubs on Sock Perfection, Sparkly Merino Sock, Cashmere Sock, So Silky Sock, and as art batts. You can find all of them right here. The deadline to sign up in time to receive the August club colorway is August 1st.

I’m actually also considering adding a worsted-weight club this fall. If that’s something you would be interested in, please let me know.

You can see my past club colorways here.

New This Week

Last week I showed you the locks I had just dyed for my new Sparkle and Locks. Now I can actually show you the set.

Sparkle and Locks

Each set contains:

  • Kid Mohair Locks – 1/2 ounce each of 5 colorways
  • Mulberry Silk – 1/2 ounce
  • Sari Silk – 1/2 ounce
  • Angelina – 1 gram each of 5 colorways

These are just so much fun to play with for spinners and felters too! I made 5 of them, and I have 3 remaining as of right now.

I have also just been dyeing down through my list. I have a list of about 50 active colorways at a given time, and I just dye through the list alphabetically, . It takes me 2 to 3 months to get through the list. You can see all the new goodies from this month right here.

Each season, I change out some of the colorways, so I’m getting ready to switch from summer colorways to autumn ones within the next couple weeks–as soon as I get through the current list one last time. It seems funny to be planning for fall when it’s 100 degrees outside, but that’s okay. I’m ready for fall. How about you?

I think that’s everything for this week. I hope you have a lovely week and find some time for the fiber arts!

Stay well!
