Assigned Pooling, Knitting, News

A Quick Hello Before the Fiber Fest

Good morning and happy Friday to you! This time next week I will be at the DFW Fiber Fest, and I am putting in some crazy long hours getting ready for it, but I just wanted to pop in to say a quick hello.

I’m at that point of triage–where I have to pick which things are most important to do. Which colorways do I dye to round out what I have to offer? How will I organize the grid wall and the space? Which samples will I bring? If only I had been able to knit up that one other sample! You get the idea.

The good news is that the weather forecast is scheduled to be a lot cooler than the current 107 degrees, so hopefully that will inspire local folks to think about projects for the months ahead.

Speaking of samples, I just finished a shawl I have been working for awhile that combines one assigned pooling colorway and one variegated or semi-solid colorway. It’s a design I’m working on. When I publish the pattern, it will be called the Metamorphosis Shawl. Here’s a photo:

It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it’s actually quite large. I used most of two skeins of Northern Lights and a little more than one skein of Emerald and Turquoise on Sparkly Merino Sock.

After the festival, I’m going to be making one more sample using Peacock Feathers and Enchanted Forest on Stained Glass Sock and making a few small adjustments to the pattern before publishing it.

Lord of the Rings Advent Calendars

If you already ordered your Advent calendar, I thank you! If not, I do still have some more available for preorder. My major project for October will be dyeing them up so I can ship them in early November in plenty of time. You can learn more about them here. This is the second and final year with a Lord of the Rings theme. Next year I’ll be doing something completely different.

DFW Fiber Fest

I don’t think I’ll be able to send a newsletter next week because of the festival. If you are in the area, the DFW Fiber will take place at the Irving Convention Center. Here’s their website will the hours and classes. My booth will be near the front left as you come in. I circled it in purple.

I know some of you are planning to come, and I can’t wait to see you there!

Now I’m off to go package up the September club colorways and dye more yarn. Lots more yarn. Have a lovely week!
