New Colorways, a Finished Object, and Moving Madness

Good morning. I hope you are doing well.

As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, we are getting ready for an interstate move. Figuring out what to pack ahead of time is always tricky because so many things are needed until the end, but we’re getting there. No, I am not on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Why do you ask?

I have a couple new colorways and a finished project to show you as well as some info on what you can expect regarding Purple Lamb and our move.

Party Like It’s 2021

First off, I think we can all agree that we are just ready to be done with 2020, so to celebrate the new year in anticipation, I have a new colorway with all the speckles called Party Like It’s 2021. My younger daughter came up with the name, and I thought it was perfect.

This is the speckliest thing I have ever made! I made it on three different yarn bases. You can see it on Sock Perfection, Sparkly Merino Sock, and Squoosh DK right here:

These are all the same wonderful speckles that I used in It’s Complicated and the new and updated version of Northanger Abbey right here:

The photo shows them on Squoosh DK. I also have each of these available on Sock Perfection and Sparkly Merino Sock also, though Northanger Abbey looks a bit darker and shows fewer speckles on those.

Whichever base you choose, wouldn’t these three make a fantastic shawl or top fade?

Honey Bee

This next new colorway is one I have been wanting to make for such a long time, but there are always more ideas than time. It’s called Honey Bee, and I dyed it on Sock Perfection.

I dyed half the skeins a cheerful yellow with just a hint of orange and the other half black with a little tonal variation.

Each color is about 30 inches long before switching to the other color, so these should make some great stripes for socks or a hat. I may make hats for our two little boys using this colorway. How fun would that be?

Dressy Poncho on Beautiful Universe

Last night, I finished the Dressy Poncho by Geetika Joglekar. My daughter knit the pattern first using yarn she had dyed herself, and I loved it so much that I decided I needed my own.

The pattern calls for two different colorways, but I chose to make it all in Beautiful Universe on Sparkly Merino Sock. It’s just one skein, and the pattern is free and also very clear and easy to follow. I especially love the lace.

News about Our Move

We are less than two weeks from our move. My plan is to do my last batch of dyeing next Wednesday so everything will be dry in time for the move. All my yarn and fiber will be the last thing packed and the first thing out, so God willing and the creek don’t rise, there should only be about three to five days when I can’t ship out yarn and fiber. My plan is to leave the shop open but with an announcement to expect a delay in shipping.

If there’s something you need soon, though, it would be a good idea to go ahead and order it. After the move, I hope to begin dyeing new yarn and fiber near the beginning of July.

I am not sure if I’ll manage to get a newsletter out next Friday or not. If so, I look forward to chatting with you then. If not, I’ll let you know how the move went.

Stay well!
