A couple weeks back I asked for your opinion about adding a sport-weight yarn base and whether you preferred it to include nylon or not. Many of you told me that you really enjoy sport weight, and most of you said you preferred it without nylon. Your wish is my command!
This week I added a new sport-weight yarn base to the shop called Splendid Sport. It’s a 3-ply yarn made of 100% superwash merino. It’s soft and round and sturdy too. It’s great for shawls and hats and sweaters, and it’s strong enough to use as warp in weaving too.
I thought I’d start us off with a few coordinating colorways, so I dyed Splendid Sport on these four colorways:

From left to right they are Purple Delight, Northern Lights, Sapphire Dreams, and Eggplant, and they are all available in small quantities right here. I think they all look great together.
I also added Splendid Sport to the dyed to order section of my shop, so you can order it on any colorway you like right here. Additionally, I made a bundle on Ravelry with some lovely knit and crochet shawls and cowls right here. There are some gorgeous sport-weight patterns out there right now!

The Phoenix
At the end of last year I made a new colorway inspired by The Phoenix of Greek mythology. However, I only dyed it on Stained Glass Fingering at the time. This week I dyed more of it on Sock Perfection and also added it to the dyed to order section of my shop. You can find The Phoenix right here. Here it is on Sock Perfection:

It’s an assigned pooling colorway. I knit up a sample using florets and double-elongated stitches so you can see how it works up:

You could definitely knit or crochet The Phoenix “normally” as well. The orange would pop in a fun way.

Art Batt of the Week
This week I wanted to highlight one of my favorite art batts. It’s called Indian Sari, and it was inspired by a stunning silk sari my mom bought while overseas that I now have. Every once in awhile I pull it out to admire its beauty. Here’s the art batt colorway my daughter Elizabeth designed based on that gorgeous sari:

Show and Tell Coming Up
I’d like to do our next Show and Tell newsletter on February 13th, so if you have any WIPs or FOs to share, please email me a photo or two along with any pattern info. It really is my favorite thing to see and share the beautiful projects you all have made!

On a Personal Note
Things are starting to get back to normal after the snow and ice we had. It was just enough to make the streets icy with a little fluff of snow on top, which means everything stopped for about five days. The good news is that we never lost our electricity, so I was able to keep on dyeing as usual, and my husband and sons got to go sledding.
I hope the storm didn’t cause you any difficulties. Stay warm, and I’ll see you next week!
