Texas Bluebonnet Reveal

First of all, I have been blown away by your generosity! Thank you, thank you! Together we were able to raise $930 to send to Mercy Chefs to feed the flood victims and first responders. I sent that on Monday. Here’s the receipt:

This was you!!

From last Monday through the end of the year, I’ll be sending 20% of the sale of Texas Bluebonnet to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

It took quite a bit of experimenting to get the colorway just right. I decided to dye it as an Ikat colorway with short bands of light fuchsia, white, spring green, and a light blue, all on a background of the beautiful purple-blue of bluebonnets. My first attempt turned out too purple, my next attempt turned out too light of a blue, but the third was (I think) just right! Here’s the photo I used as inspiration:

Here is the colorway on Sock Perfection:

When you knit or crochet with an Ikat colorway, you’ll get one or two stitches of each of the short bands of color like this:

I’m dyeing them up as fast as I can, and I started sending out the first batches yesterday. I do ask for your patience. As I said, I’m dyeing up the Texas Bluebonnet colorway and other dyed-to-order colorways as fast as I can, but due to the high number of orders, I’m afraid it might take me a little longer than usual.

August Club Colorway

I chose a really intriguing and fun painting for August. It’s called Netherlandish Proverbs, and it was made by Peter Bruegel the Elder in 1559. Peter Bruegel was a late Renaissance Dutch painter. In this painting, he took many famous sayings and translated them into his visual medium.

I found a list of the proverbs and their meanings on this Wikipedia page about this particular painting. I love the colors and the whimsy of this painting. I hope you do as well.

Deadline for the Advent Calendars

First of all, thank you to everyone who has already ordered one of this year’s Advent calendars. Once again, here is the photo I’ll be using as inspiration:

The theme is The Colors of Serenity. I will not be including the palm branches on the upper left–just the aquamarines and blues of the sea and sky and the varying shades of brown from the pier. For both the yarn and fiber, I’ll be making a color gradient. In case you are wondering, there are in fact 25 colors in this photograph.

I have the colors all planned out, and I’ll be starting to dye the yarn and make the kits in early August, so the last day to order will be August 3rd. You can learn more or get your own Advent calendar right here.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

In addition to the Texas Bluebonnet colorway, I have quite a few fresh-dyed colorways, especially on Stained Glass Sock. I think Stained Glass Sock gives an added elegance to all the colorways, don’t you? Here is one of my favorites, Monet’s Cathedral:

I also have Monet, Purple Delight, and Epiphany all available on Stained Glass Sock right now. They are the most popular colorway combination for the Angel Wings Ponchette shawl. You can see everything in stock on Stained Glass Sock right here.

I hope you have a good safe weekend!
