Labor of Love Sale

Can you believe it’s already Labor Day weekend? Labor Day always marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall–even if it still feels like summer down here in Texas. It means we’ll get to start wearing all the cozy things we have made–shawls and sweaters and hats and socks–and making new things to enjoy as well. It also means deciding what to make our loved ones for the holidays, which will be here in a hot minute. The gifts we make are indeed a labor of love.

To make that a little easier, I’m having a “labor of love” sale on all in-stock yarn and fiber. Use the coupon code LABOROFLOVE15 to take 15% off…

  • All Ready-to-Ship Yarn
  • All Hand-Dyed Top
  • All Commercial Top
  • All Accessories
  • All Knitting Patterns

Just to be clear, the sale does not include dyed-to-order yarn, kits, art batts, or clubs, but it does include pretty much everything else in my shop, including some fun new yarn colorways! You can browse through the shop as usual to find just what you’re looking for or see everything in the sale in one place.

I will wait until tomorrow to mention the sale on social media so that you (my newsletter subscribers) get first pick. The sale starts today (Friday) and ends on Monday night.

Pippins

I brought back “Pippins” in time for the sale. Just like Pippin in The Lord of the Rings, Pippins are yarn that behaved in an unexpected and sometimes not altogether satisfactory manner. The yarn itself is absolutely fine, but it’s either an experimental colorway or a colorway that didn’t turn out just right. Think of it as mystery yarn at a deep discount. You get to choose the base, but the colorway is a mystery. You can see the Pippins I have in stock right here.

Fresh from the Dye Pots

This week I created a new colorway called Coral. I’ve been wanting to make it for awhile. Here is Coral on So Silky Sock:

It goes beautifully with Rosy-Fingered Dawn:

These two are made with different amounts of the same dyes. In fact, I’m thinking of adding a third colorway that is darker than Coral or maybe in between the two. Which one would you prefer?

I also updated Wisteria a little bit, softening the green a little. Wisteria is an assigned-pooling colorway. Here it is on Sock Perfection:

It’s now a perfect match for my new Pistachio colorway, which is also in stock on Sock Perfection:

All these colorways are also available as dyed to order.

An Update on Advent Calendars and Life

Today I dyed the last of the mini skeins for this year’s Advent calendar. As I mentioned, I wanted to get them dyed up early this year because our oldest daughter is expecting a new baby in less than a month now! I’ll be going down to help our daughter with the baby as soon as she or her husband calls to say she’s in labor. I am mentioning this because there will be a week sometime in the next six weeks when I’ll be on grandma duty instead of yarn duty. I can’t wait to meet this new little one! They decided to wait until the baby is born to find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl, which means I have been knitting green and yellow blankets.

I have adult children here who can package your orders while I’m gone, but there may be a delay for dyed-to-order yarn and emails too. If all goes well, I’ll probably be down there for a week, but if I’m needed for longer, I’ll be there. I will let you all know as soon as I know more. I’ll be sure to include photos of the new baby too!

Have a great Labor Day weekend! See you next week.
