Dyeing, News

It’s Tulip Time!

Spring is my favorite time of year, and I know I’m not the only one. When we lived in Michigan, a friend told me not to expect spring until May, and I was so glad she warned me. I had spent most of my life in more southern climates and always expected spring by March. My friend Miriam helped me hang on until May, which was truly glorious in beautiful Michigan!

Whether spring has already sprung in your part of the country or you’re still waiting for it to make its appearance, this week I decided to dye up my springiest of spring colorways. If you’re still waiting, hopefully this colorway will bring a little spring to your hooks or needles while you wait. If you’re already enjoying spring, this colorway can help you enjoy it even more.

The colorway is called Tulips, and I have it dyed up and and ready to ship on six different yarn bases. Here it is on Dream Fingering:

…and here it is on Splendid Sport for the first time:

Here’s a sample I knit on Buttery Soft DK:

Because the dye strikes faster on the superwash yarn bases, they have more of the white background whereas Dream Fingering and Buttery Soft DK have less white because the dye moves around a bit before striking.

Tulips looks great with Burgundy Rose

and with Lilac

It also looks great with Sunflower, Matcha Latte, and Pistachio.

In addition to the yarn, I have dyed some of my silk scarves in the Tulips colorway:

You can see Tulips on all the yarn bases right here, and you can see all the other fresh-dyed yarn right here.

If you would enjoy a set of springy stitch markers to go with the yarn, these flower stitch markers should fit the bill!

Lone Star Yarn Trunk Show

I’m having a trunk show this Saturday at Lone Star Yarn to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this lovely yarn shop. The owner, Kris Murphy, is a delight. The shop is in Bedford, Texas, which is halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth. If you’re in the area and would like to drop by and say hello, I’d love to see you! I’ll be there between 10 and 4.

I hope you enjoy the fiber arts and some lovely spring weather this weekend!
