There are three things I love about autumn. The first is the air. Breathing in the cooler, drier air is so refreshing. The second is the chance to wear the shawls and cowls I’ve made–new and old alike. The third and very best thing about autumn though is the glory of all the colors of changing leaves. I’m a little jealous of those of you who live in places where the changing leaves are truly fantastic. However, even if you too live somewhere where the changing colors are somewhat less stunning, you can still enjoy all the colors of autumn.
This week I thought I would highlight all the fall colorways in my shop on both yarn and fiber. I put them in a new collection on my website. The Autumn Colorways Collection includes ready-to-ship yarn and fiber as well as yarn and art batts that we make when you order them. You can see everything right here.
I’ll share a few favorites with you, including two completely new colorways I created this week.
I actually have sooo many autumn-colored art batts. Here’s one of my favorites:

It’s called Autumn Festival, and it has merino, baby alpaca, bamboo, muga silk, and kid mohair locks. It’s so much fun to see and feel all the different soft textures while you spin this.
My favorite hand-dyed top for autumn is Afremov’s Farewell to Anger on organic Polwarth. Here that is:

Farewell to Anger tends to be popular in all its forms!
I think my favorite dyed to order autumn yarn colorway is probably The Palantir. Here that is on Stained Glass Sock:

The Palantir is one of my Lord of the Rings colorways that I brought back for autumn. The other one is The Paths of the Dead, which sounds creepy but is actually a lovely soft neutral colorway. Here is The Paths of the Dead on Sock Perfection:

Two New Colorways
That brings me to the first new colorway, which I’m very excited about. I named it Japanese Maples. Here it is on Feather Sock:

…and here it is on Squoosh DK:

This is one of those times when you can really see how differently non-superwash (Feather Sock) and superwash (Squoosh DK) yarn bases dye up! The dyes shift and move more with non-superwash yarn while they strike more quickly with superwash yarn.
Japanese Maples is available on both of these yarn bases and dyed to order as well.
The second new colorway is called Begonia, and it’s just at the cusp of pink, red, and orange like the lovely flowers it is named for.

It goes beautifully with Rosy-Fingered Dawn and Coral:

It also looks great with Picasso’s Mediterranean Landscape, Farewell to Anger, and Day at the Beach, all of which have this color in them.
I dyed Begonia on Feather Sock, which is a non-superwash light fingering-weight 2-ply yarn made of merino wool and a bit of silk. Begonia is also available dyed to order on all the bases.
I think that’s everything for this week. I hope the beautiful fresh air and colors of autumn are coming your way soon!
